For the first time in history, Hermès brought all its technologies, craftsmanship, and design blueprints to China and put them fully on display.
In response to rumors that it outsourced handcrafted products to Chinese factories, Hermès offered a powerful statement of integrity by immediately launching "In The Making" — flying in a team of skilled artisans to recreate every step of its production process right in the heart of the billion-people nation.
Not just handbags — Hermès showcased how it crafts saddles, straw hats, and even printed scarves. Even safety pins were not exempt.
From original sketches, laser-cut patterns, to color-matching and stitching techniques, Hermès hid nothing from the scrutinizing eyes of luxury consumers and the gaze of thousands of cameras.
Interpreters were assigned to each demonstration table, standing by the artisans to ensure every guest could clearly understand how Hermès products are made.
Why weren’t they afraid? Why did they dare to share it all?
Because Hermès knows that counterfeit products can never match the soul and quality of the original.
Transparency is Hermès' weapon of choice to conquer its clientele.
From leather gloves and silk scarves to the iconic Birkin, Kelly, equestrian saddles and even its ultra-luxury High Jewelry line — every step of the process is meticulously explained and demonstrated.
