RNLI Shop Bideford Bay at Affinity Village

We’ve had an amazing couple of days in the mall outside our shop in Affinity Devon to celebrate our Lifeguards and the RNLI.

We were joined by our lifeguards, Water Safety Team, Lucy from the Appledore Lifeboat Crew and our shop team.

We engaged with over 250 people to promote safety in the water, handing out gifts and ensuring people know what to do if they get into difficulty.

We all had a brilliant time and, if you missed us, you can call into the shop where you’ll find lots of things to help you stay safe. Watch this space for our next event.

Tomorrow (Thursday) we will be joined by our Water Safety Team, two local Lifeguards plus Lucy from the Appledore Crew will be popping in and, of course, Stormy Stan will be there.

Today marks 25 years since the inception of the RNLI Lifeguards.

They appear each summer to patrol the beaches of North Devon, keeping residents and holidaymakers safe as they enjoy the water.

On 4th & 6th August, outside our shop in Affinity Devon, we are holding two activity events to appreciate the work they do and to promote Water Safety.

We have a mini rib lifeboat, colouring competitions, “Guess where the Stornaway Stowaway Bear is” plus representatives from the lifeguards, water safety and Appledore Lifeboat crew.

We have flags, stickers and loads of advice for you and your kids all wrapped up in fun activities which coincide with the shopping centre’s own event.

We also have 25th Anniversary memorabilia for sale in the shop.

These events are on 11am until 2pm on both days so please do stop by and take a look. It could save a life, too!

The RNLI Lifeguards celebrate their 25th Anniversary, in July. They provide an important presence across our North Devon beaches throughout late Spring to Autumn.

We have new products in the shop to commemorate this special occasion including Boonie Hats and caps for adults plus caps for the kids.

Keyrings, badges, beach shoes and beach bags plus travel mugs, teddies, games and toys.

Take a look at our brilliant window display and choose your souvenir of this landmark year.

Some items are also available to purchase from our Appledore Lifeboat Station Shop.

Do you want to be part of our One Crew approach at RNLI Appledore and help save lives at sea.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Volunteer Chairperson for our Fundraising Group, a team that has been raising funds in our local community since the station was established over 200 years ago

You will help guide and motivate the team to deliver vital fundraising activities. Working closely with our Community Manager you will be a key contact for the Group, chair our regular monthly meetings and assist at fundraising activities and events, alongside other volunteers from the fundraising team.

We are looking for someone with good communication skills, confident in talking to the public and working with other volunteers, but above all enthusiastic and passionate for what the RNLI does and what it stands for here in North Devon. Leadership experience would be an advantage but it’s not essential.

What can we offer you. We want you to have fun, meet new people and gain the satisfaction of giving back. Most of all we want you to feel part of our One Crew ethos where we all help make a difference, be that as a member of boat or shore crew, a Launch Authority, part of our fundraising team, working in retail or engaging the public via our visits and talks programmes.
