We're delighted to be bringing you some of Hoka's Mafate range for the first time!

We have our eyes on the Mafate X, which delivers supreme plushness with a dual-density, premium foam chassis, PEBA top layer, and a pop of propulsion thanks to a forked carbon fibre plate.

What does this mean? With previous Mafate footwear, you had to choose between their comfort, and the speed of a lightweight shoe. The "X" version breaks this compromise by integrating road technologies (Carbon + PEBA) into a chassis capable of withstanding mud and rocks. This is a shoe designed to break your records on 50 to 170 km courses 🏃🏽‍♀️

Summer Solstice is almost here 🌞

It's a great opportunity to get out and enjoy those extra long days. We're crossing our fingers for some decent weather 🤞

Do you have plans?

"I think it works best when you treat it as a place to sleep rather than a place to camp, for short trips and quick overnighters where footprint and speed matter, the design makes sense."

The Outdoor Research Helium UL Bivy makes the most sense when you want the smallest possible weatherproof shelter, a quick pitch and a really low-profile camp. It is more livable than most bivy bags I’ve tried, thanks to the hoop, which elevates and provides welcome space, but it is still very muc...

Some new REAL Turmat meals for us to taste test!

The Real Turmat Taco Bowl 🌮 is still the only meal we’ve ever given a perfect 10/10. Can the Burrito Bowl 🌯 join those illustrious ranks?

If you didn’t know, we taste-test all the camping meals we sell and score them to make recommendations easier. We look at more than just flavour, too. We note things like whether a meal needs a bit more or less water, if it benefits from extra hydration time, and whether the portion actually feels satisfying after a long day outdoors.

We will let you know once the spoons are down.

"It's very easy when planning your TGO route to revisit some of the better-known spots. This, in many ways, is the draw of the TGO Challenge: to see old friends you have met on previous crossings, and to meet new, like-minded people.

This year, that wasn't my plan."

Read Andy's trip report from his 2026 TGO Challenge crossing, linking the Affric Kintail Way with the Moray Coast on a quieter and less travelled route across Scotland. From remote coastal paths and fishing villages to historic towns and rugged shoreline walking, it offers a different perspective on one of the UK's most iconic long-distance backpacking events.

Well worth a read for anyone planning a future crossing, looking for route inspiration, or simply curious about a less conventional route across Scotland.

A new video from Paul Messnerl after his recent trip on the Great Glen Way. A really honest look at the gear that worked brilliantly, the kit that didn’t, and the items he ended up mailing home mid-trail. From standout favourites like his Nemo sleeping pad and trusty Hyperlite pack, it’s a great breakdown of the gear he loved and didn’t. Worth a watch if you’re refining your own backpacking setup.

Rab’s SS26 pack range shows how much backpack design is now being driven by systems engineering (instead of just adding a bunch of new features) and we're here for it 🙌

The standout development is the new AEROFIT™ carry system, which combines suspended mesh ventilation with a body-contouring structure designed to improve airflow, load distribution, and stability simultaneously. The approach appears across the new Syclon XP and Airox ranges, targeting a long-standing challenge in pack design - balancing ventilation, weight, and carrying comfort.

Beyond the carry system, Rab is also introducing new materials and construction ideas across the range, including waterproof pack designs, lightweight fast-packing models, and updated load-carrying platforms for multi-day trekking. The result is a range that targets specific use, rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.

A reminder - advances in ergonomics, suspension systems, material science, and weather protection can have a bigger impact on real-world performance than raw weight savings alone 👌
