🎄 That’s a wrap for Christmas at Bridge Street Violins

The very last violins have been sent out in time and picked up to be put under the tree 🎻✨

Laurentius is taking a well-earned break to spend Christmas with his family, and we’re so grateful for another year of music, craftsmanship and the trust you’ve placed in us.

We’d like to wish all our clients, musicians, suppliers, friends and families a truly peaceful and joyful Christmas. Thank you for supporting our small family business, it means more than we can say.

There’s still time to give the gift of music this Christmas!

If you’ve just realised that Christmas has crept up on you and is now very nearly here (it does that to me every year…), there’s still time to sneak something truly special under the tree.

Get your order in to us by Friday and I’ll make sure it’s in the post in time for the Christmas cut-off!

If your child is thinking about taking up an instrument, renting is a brilliant place to start with no big commitment, no pressure. Our starter rentals have a minimum term of just six months, which is perfect for seeing whether those enthusiastic squeaks turn into proper music.

If you’re buying for someone who’s already bitten by the music bug and ready for an upgrade, we have a wide range of vintage and new instruments to choose from… the sort that make musicians go a bit misty-eyed when they open the case.

Hello everyone,
At this time of year, I’m always reminded of how powerful music can be. A first violin, a beautifully set-up cello, a bow that finally feels right… these little things have a way of sparking joy that stays with someone for a lifetime.

🍂 As summer slips into autumn, I often notice instruments beginning to react to the change in air and humidity. Pegs can start to slip, varnish needs extra care, and even small shifts in the weather can affect the playability and sound of your violin, viola or cello.

Children grow quickly and an instrument that’s too small or too big can make playing uncomfortable or restrict their musical growth. We can check the fit and move them into the right size so they can play with ease and confidence.

After a long search for the right materials and expertise, I am now working with a dedicated bowmaker. This means I can confidently offer rehairing services and all other bow repairs once more.

A beautiful vintage violin came in recently with a case that’s clearly had owners with a sense of humour. Those little additions on the bottom have been there a long time—and once seen, you cannot unsee it…
