I heard on the radio today that there are just 23-days to go before meteorological Spring - that has to be something to celebrate!
But we've still got to get through February, which is winter at its deepest and coldest thanks to its Siberian easterlies and freezing, icy damp. And if your horse feels the cold more this month, thereโs a reason โ and it starts with ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ธ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ป๐ฒ๐๐.
We talk plenty about gut and liver healthโฆ but the kidneys shoulder a huge share of the bodyโs winter workload behind the scenes, especially in our seniors. Their role in warmth, hydration, energy, and resilience, becomes even more important during these freezing weeks.
In both functional physiology and TCM, winter is also kidney season. Itโs when regulating those vital features all demand more from the body โ and when senior horses show the effects most clearly.
In the blog we explore:
๐น why the kidneys are winterโs master regulators
๐น why older horses feel the cold more deeply
๐น how Yin/Yang explains winter stiffness and fatigue
๐น February support strategies
๐น How this prepares the body for early spring

In our previous post, we talked about LKLCARE being formulated specifically for the liver:kidneys:lymph pathway, supporting steady filtration and everyday whole-body wellbeing.
Andโฆ itโs currently in our ๐๐ฒ๐ฏ๐ฟ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐น๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ฎ๐ฌ% ๐ผ๐ณ๐ณ.

When we keep this pathway supported, it can make a real difference to how comfortable and settled our horses feel through the tail end of winter โ right up to early spring, when the whole metabolism begins its annual seasonal shift (which is a whole other fun in itself!).
