The nights are getting darker, Halloween is approaching, and something strange is lurking in the Attic… 👀

👻 THIS MONTH’S THEME: THINGS THAT GO BUMP IN THE NIGHT

Ghosts. Ghouls. Vampires. Zombies. Daemons. Aliens. Cultists. Creatures from beyond the stars…

If it’s spooky, sinister, horrifying or just downright unsettling, we want to see it! 💀

This one is deliberately open to interpretation — we want you to show us what “Things That Go Bump in the Night” means to you.

• 1–5 models per entry

• Your entry must fit the spooky/horror theme

PLEASE STOP THE AI SLOP.

This might ruffle a few feathers, but it’s something we’ve been thinking about for a while.

More and more often, we’re seeing hobby businesses, gaming pages and social accounts relying on AI-generated imagery for everything from logos and pricing graphics to “painted” miniatures and promotional artwork.

And we think the hobby deserves better.

The tabletop community is built on creativity. Painting, converting, designing, writing, photographing, making terrain, creating characters, building worlds — that human input is a huge part of what makes this space special.

That doesn’t mean AI has no place at all. We use it ourselves for things like brainstorming, proofreading and helping organise ideas. But there’s a big difference between using a tool to support a creative process and replacing that process altogether.

At The Adventurer’s Attic, our branding and graphics are created with real human input, and wherever possible we want our marketing to reflect the same creativity we celebrate every day in-store.

Can’t afford a designer? That’s okay.

We’d genuinely rather see:
your slightly crooked poster,
your phone photo of a painted model,
your questionable font choice,
your homemade logo,

…because at least it’s yours.

There’s personality in that. There’s effort in that. There’s a person behind it.

The hobby world should be one of the last places where creativity gets automated out of existence.

So this is our small stance on it:

Use AI as a tool if it helps you.
Don’t let it replace your creativity.
Support artists, designers and makers when you can.
And don’t be afraid to make something imperfect yourself.

We want to see more human creativity in the hobby space, not less.

Let’s do better. 💚

💚 GAME SPACE PRICING – FROM OCTOBER 💚

From October, we’ll be introducing some small charges for using our gaming spaces at The Adventurer’s Attic.

As the costs of running the shop continue to rise, we need the gaming space to contribute a little towards keeping itself open, maintained, heated, lit, and available for the community.

⚔️ Wargaming Tables — £10 per table
Up to 5 hours

🎲 Board Games / TCGs / RPGs — £3 per person
Up to 5 hours

🚪 Private Gaming Room — £25
Available for either 10AM–3PM or 3PM–9PM
Maximum 8 people
Includes one drink per person

🧒 Ages 16 & under — FREE

🎟️ Leagues, ticketed events and regular evening games
No additional table charge where applicable.

We know this is a change from how things have worked previously, so we’ve tried to keep the pricing as affordable and fair as possible.

The Attic is still a small independent store, and these changes are simply about helping us keep the gaming space sustainable long-term.

👽🎲 RATION PLAYTESTING IS UNDERWAY! 🎲👽

Today we’ve had players in-store getting hands-on with RATION, the upcoming sci-fi survival social deduction game from Blood Orange Games!

It’s been great seeing people trying the game, learning the mechanics, discussing strategies, and giving feedback that will help shape the game as it continues through development.

This is exactly the kind of thing we love hosting at The Adventurer’s Attic — giving people the chance to try something new while supporting independent creators and game designers at the same time. 💚

A massive thank you to everyone who came along today and got involved, and of course to Blood Orange Games for letting us be part of the playtesting journey.
