It’s been a CRAZY busy week, but our amazing volunteers still manage to keep the place tidy, well stocked, and the clothing labelled so you easily find what you want in your size.

Call in, pick up a bargain, have a coffee. Where else can you get a pot of tea for just a quid?

It’s getting colder now, donations of socks, hats, gloves & underwear are always needed and welcome.

Busy day, thank you to all the volunteers, including a few new ones, who helped in the shop and serving hot food this evening.

Another incredibly busy day, it’s getting colder now and our £1 hot drinks are becoming increasingly popular.

One thing I didn’t expect in a Charity Shop, was the amount of shoplifting, it’s not just a few little bits, it’s an epidemic, and it’s constant, speaking to other similar shops, it seems we’re not alone.

Unfortunately, due to the aggression shown to volunteers when they confront people we’re having to change a few things.

We’ve always had CCTV, and it’s a VERY clear system, the police have told us it’s much better quality than the type used by large chains in town, so we know who is doing it.

We now have (locked) cabinets near the till for some of the more desirable items, it takes a few minutes to get keys, but does mean that we can display some of the better items that haven been donated.

Prams and pushchairs (yes, people have tried to walk out with them) are now alarmed.

Some items of clothing are now fitted with security tags (which can be removed at the till).

Other measures are also in place, but you get the idea.

All of these things take time, and money.

We have been advised by Merseyside Police that we cannot put printouts/photographs of shoplifters on the door/in the window, BUT, we are allowed to ban shoplifters from the premises, which means that if they return and steal again, it’s a much more serious offence, and, it seems, we CAN display pictures of those that are barred, but we can’t say why. 😎

It’s a shame as the shop is doing really well at the moment, we have a great team, and as the days get shorter and the nights colder, we know we’ll be needed even more.

Thank you for your help and kind donations, we all make a difference.

Busiest day since our Grand Opening today.

Thank you to all.

Thank you so much to our amazing volunteers who braved this awful weather to help with the food tonight.

The donations we receive help towards paying for the rent, the electricity, subsidised drinks and the food we serve every Wednesday.

Tonight we have given over 60 hot meals and large hot drinks to those on the streets or sleeping rough, probably one of our busiest evenings, and as the nights get darker and the weather colder we know that there are going to be even more.

Please share this page with your friends, let them know what we do, because it does make a difference.

Wednesday outreach is a success once again, we had people waiting for food at 3:30 (we start at 4:00) and our amazing volunteers are here until 6:00pm.

Just a reminder that we now have a seating area and hot drinks for just £1 (donations always welcome).
These are the large 12oz drinks not the little vending machine ones, and are heavily subsidised by the shop.

Our amazing volunteers getting ready for tonight’s outreach. It’s becoming increasingly popular as word spreads.

After helping a tenant illegally evicted by a rogue landlord and his thugs get back into his HOME, a few things to remember:

Only a court appointed bailiff acting under the authority of a court order can legally evict you from your home.

That’s it!

A Landlord cannot throw you out.
A Landlord with a court order cannot throw you out.
A Landlord and a couple of his friends cannot throw you out.

All the above are completely illegal, and County Court Judges REALLY don’t like Landlords who do this, the fines, costs and compensation can hit the thousands, if not tens of thousands REALLY quickly.

After a week in a tent not knowing what to do next this family found us yesterday, today they are back in their home and catching up on some well needed sleep.

We would like to thank LKM for getting them in, after the locks were changed with all their belongings inside, and Merseyside Police for assuring them that all they’d been told by us was correct, and to call them if their Landlord returned.

This tenant was completely up to date with his rent, and had paid for this month, the reasons for wanting him and his family out are known only to the landlord, which I’m sure the Judge will take great delight in listening to.

Anyone can be made homeless, it’s disorientating, it’s stressful, it changes your whole life, that’s why we do what we do, because, just like the National Lottery, it could be YOU!!

Our incredible volunteers were here once again with some amazing food choices. Thank you to all who help.
