Different Minds – Autism education event w Peter Wharmby & Lisa Galley

At How Brave Is The Wren shop
For adults and young people aged 14+

To celebrate the publication of “Different Minds” by neurodivergence campaigner and former teacher Pete Wharmby, we’re hosting a talk between Pete and fellow author and Family Autism Consultant Lisa Galley. Pete & Lisa will be discussing what it’s like to be autistic in Western school systems today, with a view to understanding how to support our children through this stage of their lives.

This event is aimed at adults but young people aged 14+ are welcome to attend, the event is free but please book via the website so that we know how many people to expect. Copies of both authors books will be available to purchase on the day or can be pre-ordered when booking.

SUMMER HOURS

Summer holidays are here and as we’ll be very busy eating ice cream we have a slight change to our opening hours.

We’ll be closed on Wednesday’s throughout August
And between 10th - 16th August.
We’ll be open:

Thurs - 10am - 4pm
Fri - 10am - 4pm
Sat - 10am - 4pm
Sun - 10am - 3pm

Then September back to normal.
Story times will be on throughout the summer holidays other than 13th & 14th Aug, our story times take place:
Thurs 11am
Fri 10.15am

Storytimes are free, no need to book, all ages welcome.

We’re SOOOOOO excited to be welcoming comedian Rosie Jones to the shop tomorrow thanks to Kings Heath Comedy Festival!!

Ahead of Rosie’s festival performance she’s going to be visiting us with her author hat on to sign books, come along and pick up a copy, there are 3 different books to choose from, book 1 or 2 of The Amazing Edie Eckhart series, charting the antics of Eleven-year-old Edie Eckhart and her best friend Oscar and their journey through secondary school. Or Moving On Up: Back To School Guide* Rosie’s guide to navigating childhood for nine to eleven year olds.

Or bring along any of Rosie’s books that you already own, you can sign up via the link in our profile or stories to pre-order a book or just book a free place.
