🌿 LET’S TALK AI… 🤖
All three of these images started with the same photograph of the same plants — but they show three VERY different ways AI can be used.
📸 IMAGE 1 — THE ORIGINAL
This is the original photograph. Real plants, real colours, real leaves, real imperfections — and a rather fetching turquoise background 😂
🤖 IMAGE 2 — WHEN AI GOES TOO FAR
Same starting photograph, but AI has essentially decided my plants weren’t dramatic enough.
The colours are more intense.
The leaves have changed.
The variegation has changed.
Everything looks suspiciously glossy and perfect.
It might make a prettier picture — but it isn’t an accurate representation of the plants anymore.
And when you’re selling plants, that’s a problem.
🌿 IMAGE 3 — HOW I ACTUALLY USE AI
The plants themselves haven’t been deliberately “improved”.
The aim is simply to clean up the photograph: remove the distracting background, give it a clean white setting and let the actual plants be the focus.
Because there’s a big difference between using AI to improve the presentation of a photograph and using AI to improve the product you’re supposedly selling.
I use AI in my business. A LOT. 😂
It helps with photography, content, admin, ideas and approximately 738 other jobs involved in running a small business.
But I also think transparency matters.
If you’re buying a plant because you’ve fallen in love with its variegation, size or appearance, the photograph should give you a realistic idea of what you’re actually buying. 🌱
AI is an incredible tool.
It shouldn’t be a tool for making an average plant look like a £200 unicorn. 🦄😂
And speaking of the plants I’ve just made you stare at for an entire AI experiment…
👀 Alocasia odora ‘Batik’ is AVAILABLE NOW! 🌿🤣
Because apparently even my educational posts are capable of turning into a sales pitch.
Aura Salt UK 🌿
Affordable plants. Real plants. Just occasionally with a tidier background. 😂
