It’s still to be fitted to the tray but the marquetry is finished!

I don’t often show the design progress so swipe to see. Drawings tend to start as insane scribbles and it’s only on the computer that I properly draw them up. I vaguely scribbled on the back board to plan out the sizing although the design changed after this. I’ve tried to size everything to actual scale.

A lot of the time in laser cutting is actually prepping the document. Once a design is drawn, each segment needs to be broken out into individual pieces for cutting and etching. The reason my drawings are random colours is because that correlates to my laser material library. They will then import into Lightburn as separate layers.

I’m excited to see how the piece looks when finished!
