Most of you know me as Becky from Becky’s little Bookworms 📚🐛❤️

Well….I’ve decided to add something new to my little business journey 🥰

I’ve recently joined utility warehouse helping people look at their household services and explore whether bringing things together can save them money and make life a little simpler 🏠💡

Becky’s little Bookworms are at Nuffield Health gym in Rubery started off outside very windy but we braved it for 4 hours then the rain started so all hands on deck with a very nice fitness manager that helped me bring everything inside, great to chat to customers and staff

My son actually ASKED for the diary of a Wimpy Kid box set.

His teacher had read one of the books to his class, he came home wanting the whole set 😄

His birthday was coming up, so we thought great we will get them for that

At first, he was interested.

He wanted to take the books to school. He’d read a few pages at bedtime.

I thought we’d found something he’d really enjoy reading.

That was months ago.

Now they’re collecting dust on a shelf 🙁

And if I’m honest, that upsets me a bit

Not because he has to like them

But because he was so interested at first. He thought he’d love them - and so did I

So if you’ve brought loads of books that your child seemed excited about, only for them to end up untouched, you’re definitely not the only one

Has this happened in your house too ? 😩📚

I don’t share this for sympathy.

I share it because there’s a very personal reason I started doing what I do.

After losing my mum, I was in a very low place struggling with grief and also being in a job I didn’t enjoy.

I needed something to focus on and I saw a post about Usborne books, I decided to join, starting Usborne gave me that. It also started giving me the confidence to believe I could do something for myself while fitting in around my family life.

I’ve been lucky in a short space of time to hold a few events which I’m so grateful for

I’m still grieving. Starting a business doesn’t magically change that.

But I’m glad I gave myself something to focus on and the chance to believe in myself again.

If you don’t know what books your child will actually like, start with their interests.

At events, one of the first things I ask a parent is, “ what is your little one interested in?”

Then I can show them books I have in that genre.

And because I can only bring limited stock to an event, if we don’t find the right one there, I’ll show them where they can see the other books available and make sure they have my number if they want help choosing.

You don’t have to keep guessing and buying books that get ignored.

What is your little one interested in? Tell me and I’ll give you an honest recommendation. 📚❤️

I hear this a lot especially from older children, maybe books aren’t the problem, maybe they just haven’t found a book that grabs their attention, start with your child’s interests first find something they enjoy whether that be football, unicorns or space whatever their interests i will give you an honest recommendation
