Sensory Smart just got even smarter 💚

Introducing Comfy Clothes — our very first own-designed clothing collection, thoughtfully created for children who struggle with traditional schoolwear comfort.

Designed by us. Designed for you.

After listening to families, understanding the daily dressing struggles, and seeing just how overwhelming school clothing can feel for some children, we knew something needed to change.

So we created school trousers with comfort at the centre of every detail.

Featuring:
✔ Hidden sensory-friendly waistband adjuster — discreet, comfy and designed to replace bulky, scratchy adjusters
✔ Flat-felt inner seams to help reduce irritation
✔ Soft stretchy waistband for all-day comfort
✔ Non-functioning button and zip details for a traditional schoolwear look, without the discomfort

Because getting dressed for school shouldn’t feel like a battle 💚

Some mornings can feel harder than they should.

You’re doing everything you can to get out the door, but something as simple as getting dressed or putting shoes on suddenly becomes overwhelming.

Sometimes, it’s not about behaviour.

It could be:
• Clothing that doesn’t feel right (seams, tightness, labels)
• Shoes that are difficult to put on or don’t work with orthotics
• Feeling rushed before they’re ready

For many children with sensory differences, these small moments can feel really big.

Understanding the why can make a difference 💛

We’ve put together a blog that talks about:

Puberty can feel overwhelming - especially when sensory sensitivities are part of the picture.

Things that might seem small can feel intense:
– certain fabrics
– changes in routine
– new sensations

Supporting your child doesn’t mean having all the answers.
Sometimes it’s about understanding what they’re experiencing and adapting where you can.

For many families, puberty doesn’t just bring physical changes.

It can bring:
– discomfort that’s hard to explain
– clothing that suddenly feels unbearable
– routines that no longer work

When sensory sensitivities are involved, periods can feel overwhelming in ways that aren’t always understood.

If you’re navigating this right now, you’re not alone 💛

Many autism parents hear comments that dismiss their experiences.

Things like:

“They’ll grow out of it.”
“Every child does that.”
“Just make them try it.”

Listening and understanding makes a much bigger difference than assumptions.

If you're comfortable sharing:

What comment are you most tired of hearing?

Sensory fatigue happens when the nervous system processes too much input throughout the day.

For autistic children and adults this may include:

• constant noise
• uncomfortable clothing
• busy environments
• social demands

By the end of the day many people feel completely exhausted.

Have you noticed sensory fatigue after school, work, or busy days?

When clothing causes sensory irritation, the nervous system is already under pressure.

Seams, tight waistbands, or scratchy fabrics can create constant background discomfort.

For autistic children and adults this can increase stress and make other challenges harder to manage.

Sometimes improving clothing comfort can make the entire day feel more manageable.

Have you noticed clothing affecting mood or behaviour in your home?

If your child won’t keep socks on… this might be why

That tiny seam can feel huge.

For many children, socks are one of the biggest daily challenges.

A small raised seam at the toe can cause constant irritation — not just discomfort, but real distress.

This can lead to:
• refusing to wear socks
• taking them off throughout the day
• difficulty getting dressed

Seamless socks are designed to remove that pressure point, helping reduce irritation and make daily routines easier.

Because sometimes, small changes make a big difference 💛

When a child is diagnosed with autism, many parents suddenly find themselves trying to understand an entirely new world.

Sensory needs.
Communication differences.
Regulation behaviours.
Why certain environments feel overwhelming.

For many families, one of the most helpful ways to begin understanding autism is through books.

Some books help parents learn more about sensory processing and behaviour.
Some help siblings understand autism in a way that feels relatable.
Some help autistic children recognise their own experiences and feel understood.

Stories and practical guides can make these conversations easier at home.

We’ve curated a collection of books designed to support families learning more about autism, ADHD and sensory differences.
