Ash Tree Floral Designs, local independent florist, has creative floristry workshops planned at The Old Post Office over the next few months and you’re invited.

Next up: Autumn Wreath Workshop - Thursday 8 October, 7-9pm ‘perfect for beginners and flower lovers who would like to design a beautiful autumn wreath filled with seasonal colour, texture and natural materials.’

Expect:
- Step-by-step guidance in a relaxed and friendly setting
- All flowers, tools and materials provided
- Plenty of practical floristry tips to use again at home
- A strong focus on eco-friendly techniques – no floral foam.

A NAFAS Gold Medal! 🥇✨

Our ’Twas the Night Before Christmas tablescape, created together by me and my lovely flower friend Ruth from Oversley Flowers Ruth - flower grower, floral designer

Ruth and I first met through flowers back in the summer of 2020, and over the last six years our flower friendship has grown alongside our businesses.

We’ve worked together on lots of lovely projects, from installation workshops to sharing flowers, ideas, advice and generally helping each other out when needed but this was a special chance for us to properly design and create something together ☺️

And it turns out we make a pretty good team!

We started by setting ourselves a few rules. We wanted to keep everything as natural as possible, use Ruth’s beautiful locally grown fresh and dried flowers, and interpret ’Twas the Night Before Christmas without making a conventional Christmas table.

We wanted it to tell a story... smoke billowing from the fire, travelling up the chimney and into the night sky, sacks full of presents with velvet bows, candlelight and little references to the poem tucked throughout the design.

It became this slightly wild, immersive world of branches, flowers, dried materials, texture and light.

What I loved most was how naturally our ideas came together. It really did feel like a perfect blend of both of our creativity and I don’t think either of us would have made quite the same thing without the other.

And, from all of that, we came away with a NAFAS Gold Medal! 🥇

Very proud of what we made, but even happier that we got to make it together.

A very successful (and slightly chaotic) weekend at the flower show 😂

🥇 1st place for my graffiti-inspired floral art piece

And then there was the cat… 🐈

My slightly crazy silver chicken wire wild cat and British flower meadow was disqualified because some of the plant material had crept outside the permitted dimensions 🤦‍♀️😂

Such a shame as the judges loved the piece, but apparently flowers do, in fact, have to obey boundaries.

Still really pleased with both designs. I love getting the chance to make things that are a bit different and experimental 💖

A first place for my graffiti inspired design and a technically-illegal floral cat!

A big thank you to the Three Counties Show Malvern Shows and NAFAS NAFAS for putting on such a brilliant competition and giving us florists and flower arrangers the chance to get creative and experiment for the love of flowers 🌸

A festive morning at Blakesley Hall 🌿✨

This November I’ll be taking over beautiful Blakesley Hall for a slightly different kind of Christmas wreath workshop.

We’ll start outside with a seasonal wander through the historic gardens, gathering natural materials and looking at the textures and foliage we can use in our designs.

Then we’ll head inside, warm up with a hot drink and I’ll guide you step-by-step through making your own generous, natural-style Christmas wreath using fresh seasonal foliage, foraged finds and festive details.

Your morning also includes a tour of the Hall, so this is a little more than your usual wreath workshop - think flowers, history, winter gardens and a bit of Christmas magic ✨

Katy & Ben’s floral moongate at Shustoke Barn 🌿

Filled with masses of foliage, soft whites and blush, touches of dried texture and lots of lovely wild movement.

Moongates are probably my favourite thing to create. There’s something pretty epic about walking into your ceremony and seeing a huge floral installation waiting for you.

And they work so beautifully at Shustoke. Against all that brickwork and those enormous beams, you can really go big with the flowers and they still feel completely at home in the space.

I always think the ceremony is a brilliant place to make a real statement with flowers. It’s the bit where you actually get married, so it deserves some drama!

Some behind the scenes, creative chaos from this colourful one 💕

Such a gorgeous colour palette, pinks, peach, lilac, raspberry and little pops of yellow, with lots of texture and movement.

Alongside the bouquets and buttonholes, I created floral arrangements for the ceremony which were then moved through to become table centres for the reception.
I always love finding ways for flowers to have more than one moment during the day.

A little look at Esther’s gorgeous late-summer wedding flowers 🧡

Esther and Adam had spent lots of time creating beautiful decorations for their day Weddings at Elmbridge Farm so they just needed me to add the finishing touches with their bouquets and buttonholes - the floral cherry on the cake! 🍒

I loved this colour palette. Soft pinks and peaches, deeper plum dahlias and pops of orange, including this fabulous new variety of cosmos which I’m slightly obsessed with!

Huge congratulations to you both and I hope you had the most wonderful day! 💐
