As a UK business we have to conform to the strictest legislation and ensure all our goods comply with British and EU standards or face the full force of the law. The amount of sub-standard and potentially lethal lighting and cheap electrical imports flooding our country via online market places is literally shocking. Out of the jurisdiction of trading standards and with marketplaces placing the responsibility with the seller it’s a minefield and a quick search of trading standards lists thousands of goods headed for fulfilment centres that are simply destroyed at port and swept under the carpet with no convictions or recalls! Millions of these goods are now in people’s homes. We have communicated with our governing body about this matter and in their words “It’s going to take another Grenfall Tower before the government choose to act!”
