I’ve got a business. I just need to find it…

I’ve debated whether or not to post this - however…I’m not going to get anywhere (slowly or faster!) - if I don’t hold myself accountable 😵‍💫

🤦🏻‍♀️ This is a tiny corner of Noah’s Art HQ and - quite frankly, it tells you everything you need to know…😳

I have completely lost my way with my business.

Noah’s Art has been going for 12 years. It’s my baby, my escape, my job, my bread and butter, my creative outlet, my headache 🤯 and the thing I’ve disappeared into when I’ve needed to hang fire on the 47 tabs open in my head.

And I really don’t want to give it up.

The last year has been a bit of a bloody whirlwind…

There have been hospital stays and surgeries for me, Andrew and Jacob, and somehow Noah was the only one who managed to get away with nothing major… although he did have two wocking great big needles shoved in his feet, so I suppose he wasn’t completely off the hook! 😅

But after months of not doing much with it, I honestly don’t know where to start anymore.

I feel like I’ve forgotten how to do all of this. What to make. What to sell. What to post. What people actually want from me. What I’m even doing half the time! 🫨

So if you run a small business and you’ve ever had a proper ‘what the hell am I doing?’ period…

I need your advice.

How did you get back into it?

What did you do first?

Did you sort your workspace? Your products? Your website? Social media? Did you make a plan? Or did you just pick one tiny thing and start there?

Because I genuinely don’t know! 🤦🏻‍♀️

I don’t need business-guru advice…

I need real small-business-owner advice from people who’ve been there.

What helped you find your way back?

Because right now I’m standing in this room wondering where the bloody hell I even begin. 😂

(There is so much more to worry about in life - but bear with me on this 😅)

This is me as a little girl👆

I was born with different ears. I’ve had countless surgeries over the years because of my hearing, and one of my ears had excess cartilage at the top and stuck out noticeably more than the other.

And obviously, children noticed.

I got called “elf”.
I got called “pixie”.

And one particular boy was absolutely committed to calling me “alien” 🙄

He just would. not. give. in.

Then there were the footballs 🙃

Countless footballs kicked at my head on a daily basis.

Looking back, I do wonder…

Did they genuinely think they’d eventually knock the lump off my ear and magically turn it into a perfectly ‘normal’ ear?! 🤣🙄

At 12, I had my ear pinned back…

But that didn’t magically make me stop being conscious of it.

For 26 years, I’ve been reluctant to put my hair up. I’ve always found a way to hide my ears.

My Wedding Day?! Nope, that’s absolutely not being a constant reminder 😅

Until last week - I had the excess cartilage at the top removed, along with scar tissue and excess cartilage from behind my ear.

And now…

THEY MATCH!!

And then there’s Bertie…

This little idiot has given me so much peace without even knowing it.

He gets me outside. He gives me a reason to walk. He makes me stop thinking about everything else for a while.

So I suppose there’s a slightly strange connection between these photos.

One is me as the little girl who spent years being conscious of something she couldn’t change.

The other is the little dog who’s helped me stop being quite so conscious of everything else.

I am forever grateful and fortunate to have been blessed with an incredible ENT surgeon who has guided me and listened to me over the last 6 years 💛

I think this photo is probably the most accurate representation of where my brain is right now…

🍕I put an M&S cheese & tomato pizza in the oven. (Yes, M&S. Not just any pizza. This is an M&S cheese and tomato pizza 😅 - sorry, that needs hearing in the M&S advert voice 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️)

While it was cooking, I thought I’d be productive and give the water bottles a really good clean…

Great idea!

Except… I forgot that I’d even put anything in the oven 🤦🏻‍♀️

Not just slightly overcooked it - I mean, to the point it was solid enough to knock a nail in the wall 🤣 (not that I did actually try that, but that’s my guess haha!)

Meanwhile, while this was going on - in my productiveness mode - I MELTED THE WATER BOTTLES! 🫠

I just laughed. Because this feels like a pretty accurate picture of my brain lately.

There’s just too much going on.

I’m trying to remember everything, do everything, sort everything and keep everyone going…

…and somewhere along the way my brain has gone:

“Nah. We’re not remembering the pizza.” 😂

Sometimes overwhelm doesn’t look like falling apart.

Sometimes it looks like confidently doing something productive while completely forgetting the thing you were already doing.

So, if you’re wondering where my brain is today…

Somewhere between the melted water bottles and a very burnt, very questionable ‘pizza’ - and realising I’ve just washed the same load twice whilst reheating my cuppa (again!)

Please tell me I’m not the only one 🤯🤣

I’ve finally found a house with much better balance than me… 😅

My incredibly lovely Mom and Dad surprised us with a trip away to Wales this week - and somewhere between the gorgeous weather, exploring with our little family - plus Bertie’s first experience of the sea and wandering around a house that quite literally turns everything on its head…

…I remembered that maybe you don’t always need to know exactly where you’re going.

Sometimes it’s enough to be curious, change the angle and see what happens.

I’ve had longer than I ever intended to have off my little business - but in hindsight, I think it’s what was really needed 💛

One piece of technology completely changed Jacob’s hospital experience…

I’d heard of things like this, but I’d never seen one in action - and never thought it would be in a hospital setting.

Honestly… it was amazing!!

During Jacob’s dressing changes, he was watching stingrays, standing beneath the Northern Lights and exploring Victoria Falls instead of focusing on what was happening around him.

Those few minutes of escape made such a difference.

Massive thank you to Olivia, Wayne and the incredible Healthcare Play Team and doctors and nurses at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

You turned some really difficult moments into something Jacob could actually look forward to.

We’ll never forget that! 💛

A little update on Jacob ❤️

When we shared the story of the World Cup sticker book, we never imagined the weeks that would follow.

What started with a small act of kindness from Kyle led us into a chapter filled with so many incredible people.

From the burns team who guided us, the nurses who cared for him, the play therapists who helped make scary moments feel manageable, and the surgeon who gave Jacob the best chance to heal - we really are so grateful!

And Jacob - what a boy!

He has taken every appointment, every dressing, starting his summer holidays being at the Children’s every other day - and his operation in his stride.

Thank you to everyone who has asked about him, sent messages and quietly been there ❤️

Yesterday, I rang Nisa Local in Bearwood to check if they had a World Cup sticker book for Jacob…

The day before, he had suffered burns to his stomach and foot after an accident at home, and it needed hospital treatment.

It had been a frightening couple of days, but he handled it so, SO well!!

The only thing he kept talking about was a sticker book he wanted to spend his pocket money on…

While I was on the phone to the lovely lady at , a customer at the till overheard the conversation.

His name was Kyle.

And completely unprompted, he quietly said he wanted to pay for it for Jacob. He said he had children himself and knew how we must all be feeling.

I’ve never met him. He’s never met Jacob.

He didn’t need to do anything at all.

But he chose kindness anyway.

Kyle… if you ever see this - THANK YOU!

You turned a really difficult moment into something we’ll also remember for the right reasons.

And if anyone in happens to know a Kyle who was in that day - please, please let him know or tag him in the comments.

We really would love the chance to say thank you properly ❤️

Sometimes it’s easy to feel like the world is heavy with bad news…

But! Moments like this remind us that there is still so much good in people, quietly happening in everyday places.

Kyle, I really want you to know how much this gesture actually meant to us. You made one very little boy smile the biggest smile!

I won’t lie… I’ve had a proper “shall I just pack this in?” moment with Noah’s Art 🤦🏻‍♀️

There’s been a lot going on behind the scenes lately - family stuff, emergency ops, all of it - which is why I’ve not been as on it as I normally am.

I’m working through everything properly now and getting back into my rhythm again.

I won’t be jumping back into markets just yet while things are still a bit different at home, but I will be back - and this time it will be in a more structured way!

If you’ve stuck around, been patient, or just quietly waited while I’ve been a bit all over the place… thank you. It really does mean such a lot 💛
