How to look after your tree!

Before bringing the tree inside

Make a fresh cut: Saw about half an inch off the bottom of the trunk to remove hardened sap, which allows the tree to absorb water more effectively.
Consider an initial soak: Some sources suggest placing the tree in a bucket of water for 24–48 hours before bringing it inside to help it hydrate.
Acclimate the tree: Let the tree relax and acclimate to the indoor temperature by waiting to decorate it until it's been in a cooler place for a while.

Daily care
Water daily: Check the water level in the stand every day and refill as needed, as trees can drink several pints to a gallon of water per day.
Keep the base submerged: Ensure the water level never drops below the base of the trunk. If it does, a sap seal will form, and the tree will not be able to absorb more water until the trunk is re-cut.
