Found a pair of late Victorian/Edwardian horse-drawn carriage lamps—one square-fronted with side jewels, the other with an oval brass cowl.

I’m planning to convert these to electric and build custom mounting stands for them, but I’d love your input:

Would you prefer to see these finished as desktop table lamps or wall-mounted sconces?

Another piece of history restored! A customer brought in this vintage Morris Minor horn press, which was looking rather tired with its faded, scratched red finish.

I gave it a complete overhaul by restoring the Bakelite, cleaning all the internal contacts and springs, and refinishing it in their chosen colour. It has turned out brilliantly.

Whether it is classic vehicle components, vintage homeware, hardware, or unique antique treasures, My renovation and restoration service brings old items back to life. Send a message today to discuss your next restoration project or better still, pop into my Blackwood High Street shop.

Unfortunately, in my haste to get stuck in, I forgot to take any 'before' photos!

This fantastic early 1970s anglepoise lamp came in holding a lot of sentimental value for its owner. It has now undergone a thorough clean and polish, all electrical issues preventing it from working have been resolved, and the tension springs have been tightened so it is no longer floppy.

Fully restored, PAT tested, and ready to provide another 50+ years of service.

Have a cherished vintage item or antique in need of repair? Whether it needs rewiring, mechanical fixes, or general restoration, drop a message or bring it by the shop to get it back to working order.

A fantastic project recently wrapped up on the bench! We took seven vintage Bakelite switches—some with severe splits and missing chunks—and brought them back to life.

Beyond fixing the damaged Bakelite, we replaced worn springs, repaired the switch blades, and engineered custom internal insulators to bring them fully up to current UK wiring safety regulations. To finish them off, we mounted the switches onto pre-drilled oak plinths and put together bespoke fitting kits so the client can install them with ease.

Safe to say the client was over the moon with the final result and sent over a lovely letter of thanks!

Take a look through the photos to see the full before, during, and after transformation.

Here's a job I wouldn't normally take on, given its not really antique or vintage but I have a soft spot.
This machine was donated to a young, talented daughter of a repeat customer and I just had to have a go.
Having stripped it down, checked and reassembled as I believe it should be, it now fully works. I also gave it a clean and full PAT.
