Whilst we finish emptying my lovely father’s house I am off grid.

Shop closed on eBay and no any sales during this period. I don’t have time to be wrapping anything up packing and then transporting to the post office.

In fact we will be doing a carboot this weekend to get rid of surplus stock to make things more manageable at Maud and Mabel’s HQ...

We have a lot of personal things from dads to being home and sort through and we need the space here.

Hope to be back soon. In reality probably be about Mid September

Hello

Today we have this wonderful retro / kitsch Pitcher Jug set tol keep you hydrated in this upcoming heatwave, which, (allegedly) is going to be hotter than the last one - and yes I know we’ve only just got over the last heatwave!

The set consists of 1 large pitcher jug and 2 matching glasses.

Date wise they are circa 1960s possibly made by Fidenza Vetraria which was later acquired by Bormioli Rocco.

In great condition and would look great on the patio when having afternoon drinks.

Well although the temperatures have been better this week (thankfully) if you’re having a garden party or just drinks alfresco what about these gorgeous 1960s Ravenhead Slim Jim Weathervane Glasses designed by Alexander Hardie-Williamson

Ravenhead Glass was one of Britain’s largest and most historic glassware manufacturers. Founded in 1842 in St Helens, North West England, the company evolved from a family-run bottle maker into an internationally recognized brand known for producing iconic domestic tableware and pub glassware.

In the 1960s Ravenhead was synonymous with stylish, affordable, and vibrant mid-century glassware. Led by designer Alexander Hardie-Williamson, the factory in St Helens, Lancashire, transformed functional drinking and dessert glasses into fashionable kitchen statements that defined the era

These actually belonged to a great auntie and sadly have been stuck in my cupboard for the last ten years or so. In great condition. Hardly used.

14cm tall x 6cm diameter.

The pattern appears 3 times on the glass.

How have you all managed in this heatwave?

It’s been pretty full on and I don’t mind admitting we’ve struggled here including the kids (Barry 🐾 Brenda 🐾 and Beryl🐾)

Hopefully the highest temperatures are behind us now and the coming weeks will be cooler, although I read there is a “potential” second heatwave in July - let’s see.

Anyhow one of the ways to keep cool I read was to drink tea. 🫖 So that leads me nicely onto this gorgeous Paragon China Cabinet Cup & Saucer.
Lace gold and brown lace filigree with a mint green panel and floral design.
The backstamp indicates it’s around 1952-57.

Hello!

Thank you for all the well wishes and messages of condolences. It’s been a chaotic and strange month or so and we’re gradually easing ourselves back into this new norm.

We will be going back to daily listings next week, as stock was stored at dads and we need to move back to ours.

Today is Father’s Day and the first one without my dad. On Friday we said goodbye to my wonderful father George Etchells Burgess.

At approaching 90 dad had outlived most of his friends so to see over 100 people in the church was heartwarming and a testament to dad and all the kindness he had shown people in life.

A combination of smith funeral services, Anthony Harrison, Khumi Burton, .association Macclesfield & Bollington and all the ex / service personnel ensured that dad had the send off he deserved.

Reunited with mum.
Till we meet again.

Today marks the 18th anniversary since our lovely mum passed away. It’s the first anniversary without dad.

I’ll take solace in the fact that they are reunited and hopefully having a blast up there.

It’s dad’s funeral next week and it’s strange how they have both passed away on dates close to each other.
