The 1st โ 7th June marks Volunteer Week, where we celebrate the millions of volunteers hard at work across the country, and recognise their extraordinary contributions to local communities and to society overall.
Whether itโs working for a charity, with a local club or for an environmental cause, volunteering can have a huge positive impact on your local area and the community who live there. Itโs also great for our mental health and emotional wellbeing โ many volunteers say that joining a cause helped to boost their low mood and improve their self-confidence. Everyone's a winner then!
If you need a little inspiration to get started on your own volunteering adventure, look no further than our co-founder, Sammy. Sheโs always been incredibly passionate about the environment and when she discovered that one of her local wildlife hotspots needed some TLC, she got straight to work.
Read more about Sammyโs story and the amazing work she and her fellow volunteers are doing in the article below.
Well done to Sammy and all the other volunteers out there!
An inspiring conversation with Sammy Kitchen, from Ousel Nest LNR, proves that with steely determination we can accomplish amazing things for wildlife.
