🔹🟣 DAY 17 - PROCESS 🟣🔹
All my designs start life as hand-drawn images, normally created with my favourite pencil. Am I the only person obsessively clinging on to their fave pencil? I’ve had it 20 years and would be devastated if I lost it!!! I’m seriously not kidding!
The fun part is always choosing the colours and experimenting with how bold I can go. You may have realised by now that colour plays a HUGE role in my design process!

🌈🌈 DAY 15 - FOCUS & PRIORITIES 🌈🌈
To spread joy through art and bring colour to people’s lives.
I’ve said it before so it’s not really surprising that my focus in regards to Designed by Sheara seems to float around these goals. As my portfolio of designs increases and I try to expand the perimeters of the brand, maybe my priorities will change... but for now expect lots more bright hues and bold designs!

🟨🟪 DAY 10 - SMALL DETAIL 🟪🟨
Oh, I think it’s the small details that set you apart from the rest - little flourishes combined with a perfectionist’s eye.
I really scrutinise my designs and can be quite tough on myself. I’m sure all creatives out there have a vision of how they see things, how they want it to be, and won’t rest until it’s exactly how they imagined. I won’t send out any products unless I am 100% happy with them, and that means across the board, from concept and ex*****on to mounting and framing and also packaging.
I take pride in my work and it makes me happy seeing others enjoy it too and taking that little bit of extra care over the small detail is essential if you want to do yourself justice.

🦉🦉 DAY 9 - LEARNING CURVE 🦉🦉
When are we not learning?
I feel that, as an artist, I’m continually growing and developing, seeing what works and what doesn’t work, understanding what you as the customer like and don’t like, coming to terms with successes and disappointments...
Designed by Sheara has come a long way since the naive hand-created drawings I gifted my nieces many years ago. That was the catalyst for it all really and I’m so pleased to see what that initial seed has blossomed into.
There will obviously be more experiments, designs that will never see the light of day, styles that never make it print, but isn’t that what it’s all about?

🌻🌺 DAY 8 - WORK IN PROGRESS 🌺🌻
Back in Lockdown 1 all those months ago, I experimented with a series of illustrations revolving around flowers and you lovely people said some very complimentary things about my preliminary designs.
Currently nothing more has come of them but I definitely feel that my flower series is waiting to be developed further. A set of greeting cards perhaps?
What do you think I should do with these designs? All ideas welcome!

It’s not quite up in the Etsy shop but my A3 poster combining my entire A-Z is now available to purchase. It’s been a long time coming but I’m super happy with it and, unlike the rest of my artwork, I’m selling it unframed. 🖍🖍 DAY 4 - ON MY DESK ✏️✏️
I get quite jealous seeing other people’s beautiful art studios and creative spaces as at the moment I have to grab whatever surface is available in my house and, due to the kids, normally have to make sure it’s all cleared away by the end of the day.
I’m striving for that perfect work space and dream of the day when I have my own little corner, where I can leave pens strewn all over the place, paints and palettes in situ without fear of grubby fingerprints on the furniture, and pin up inspirational images on any inch of free wall. One day... one day it will happen!
