Here's where the process of cutting ever smaller pieces of fabric begins!

This machine folds the fabric onto the boards and cuts it to a measured length ready to be shipped out to quilt shops, where we cut it up to sell to you to cut it up . . . . . .
sounds a bit bonkers when put like that, doesn't it? 😆

The weekend was busy for us at the Newcastle Quilting and Sewing Show, thank you to everyone who attended 😊.
For those of you who are in the north-east and Scotland next year's show will be in June - we will see you then!

We have got the shop almost back together again ready for three classes this week including a new Beginners Course starting on Friday, details in the comment below.

The Beginners Course is packed with tips and techniques to get you started, or as a refresher if you haven't dusted off your machine for a while. And if you would rather sew by hand then that's fine too (one of our most prolific patchworkers pieces everything by hand!)

On my quick whirl around some of the quilts on display at the Festival of Quilts, these two quilts stopped me in my tracks.

They were hung next to one another and the juxtaposition just leapt out. The joyful expressions on the children's faces are in such stark contrast to the fear on the woman's that I found myself feeling quite emotional.

Such extraordinary work, I am in awe of the quilter!

So we have been a little quiet on here since our return from Festival of Quilts. To be honest we have both felt really exhausted 🥱

Although it's a little belated we just wanted to say a very big thank you to everyone who shopped with us, or just came to take a look at what we have.

There were times when we were incredibly busy, so apologies if you had to wait a while, and thank you for your patience. Quilters are such lovely people 💕

Something I did manage to do was to attend an evening talk by Ricky Tims. I have long been a fan of his work and his presentation was a great mix of quilting stories and his personal journey, interspersed with his inspiring music. I was also allowed (😉) a few minutes away from our stand on Sunday to have a quick scoot around and got to see his fantastic winning quilt 'The Visitation'. There is a video on YouTube is which he discusses the inspiration behind it.

The quilts on display were phenomenal and I'm kind of disappointed that I couldn't get to see more. But I've included a few that stood out for me. I urge you to visit The Festival of Quilts page to see images of the winners and runners up.

It was great to chat to Ferret when she visited our stand at Lamport Hall at the weekend!
Like us she is really disappointed that Benartex are discontinuing Fossil Ferns, which she uses in her creations.
