Hello 👋🏻 Happy Monday!
I’ve been working for while on a little project, trying solve a ni**le that’s been bugging me for some time.

I love creating clay impressions, putting colour combinations and background papers together. But I’ve come to realise from a customer’s perspective it’s a complete leap of faith! It’s so hard to imagine how a slice of brown clay is going to transform in to a completely unique ceramic keepsake.

I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to (a) realise and (b) come up with a solution 🤦🏼‍♀️ but, better late than never!

From now on, when you decide to commission a personalised Utterly Pottery clay impression, I’ll arrive with my little mustard tool box full of handmade colour chips 😍

Picking colour combinations to match the background paper will hopefully be much easier as well as a whole lot more fun!

I have lots of photos of past commissions to share to inspire your own unique creation. Features of the impressions shown in the final 3 images have inspired the colour combination on the first photo, a piece I am currently working on. Watch this space for the final result 👀

Albert’s beautiful clay impression was designed to compliment his big sister Alexandra’s, created back in 2023 🩵💛❤️

Using the same 3 glaze colours in a slightly different way, alongside similarly themed background papers was a stroke of genius, giving Yin & Yang vibes ☯️

I hope they hang fabulously alongside each other 🥰

Something a little bit different 🤩 I love a challenge and was asked to create a personalised handprint mug with a hydrangea theme using warm, neutral colours… Challenge accepted ✔️
I’m rather pleased with how this one turned out and, thankfully, so it’s recipient. One very happy Mummy 🥰

It’s always a risk doing something completely new as you never quite know what Bernie the kiln will get up too! But I do love trying out new ideas and am forever grateful for the trust you put in my to create your treasures keepsakes 🙏🏻

Sharing bright, sunshiny vibes on this crazy hot day! Ottilie & Marlie’s vibrant and colourful, floral clay impression really packs a punch ❤️🍑🩷🌼

The colours came together so beautifully creating a milestone keepsake to treasure for years to come 🥰

This is the moment when I finally get to see the fired impression alongside the background paper. The moment that all of the little decisions made a few weeks earlier come together. It’s always a treat!

I’m hoping that the new colour chips I’ve made will help with the decision making process. It can be tricky to imagine how a piece of brown clay can become something so different.

I absolutely love how this neutral, subtle background paper allows George, Henry & Amelia’s handprints to ‘pop’. The colours on this gorgeous triple sibling clay impression work so beautifully together 🩵💙🩷

George & Henry had an impression together a couple of years ago, but when their baby sister Amelia came along it called for a touch of pink 💕
