A huge thank you to Harriet and Hamish at The Link Magazines for the fabulous double-page spread 🤩 This friendly family-run business has been incredibly supportive of Pop-Up Bookshop and our local education profit-share initiative over the years; directly purchasing children’s books from us and also helping to share information about our reading campaigns far and wide! The Link Mags really is top-notch quality and number one for putting our local community first 👏 Highly recommended if you have a local event to promote or a business, charity or organisation that thrives on building local connections.

Here’s one for the family album! Me trying to read the brand new Gruffalo Granny to my 11 and 9 year old daughters last night 😅 Waaaaaaah 😭 the scowls and looks of contempt! My husband did say I could read it to him… then quickly retracted that statement claiming that he would rather read it as his Gruffalo voice is better than mine 🤣

Who has a toddler I can borrow instead?! It doesn’t feel like 5 minutes since my girls were cuddled up on my lap demanding story after story at bedtime.

We’ve been busy preparing all of these donated books ahead of running a Preloved Book Fair at Burton Primary School tomorrow! Some truly excellent quality titles to choose from 😍 A huge thank you to the whole school community and wider community for the book donations, we could not facilitate these events without your support 🙌

📚 100% pupils receive a book to keep at home
📚 Teachers use preloved stock to bolster teaching resources
📚 100% optional fundraising generated is spent on new books for school
📚 Suggested donation £2 per book, cash on the day or via the PayPal link

Aesthetically pleasing delivery of Michael Morpurgo’s outstanding title Kensuke’s Kingdom to Avonwood Primary School 🤩 All funded from our book fundraising events last term - so zero impact on this year’s limited school budget. Thank you so much to the whole school community for enabling us to provide these extra reading resources to benefit Avonwood pupils for years to come ❤️

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated preloved books to our Great Big Read initiative over the last couple of weeks - quite the mountain to sort today! 🙌Spending the day knee deep in books is definitely our preferred way to ease back into work mode 🤗

These books will benefit local schools and local schoolchildren through our inclusive Preloved Book Fairs:

Tell me a trait you inherited from a parent that you wish you hadn’t… 🧐

I have too many 😅 but today’s inherited gripe has to be how slow I am at ironing. My dad irons at a painstaking pace and he’s kindly passed this frustrating *skill* down to me.

Two full sets of school uniforms - iron on name label plus ironing to wear - including ridiculous items such as a pleated skirt 🤪 and I am feeling frazzled to the ma#########x!

(As a funny side note, I melted a name tag into the inside of a sports sock forgetting that it folds down… the synthetic material means I can’t unpick it 😬🤣 Not sure my eldest daughter will appreciate this finishing touch to her P.E kit being quite so visible during her lessons 🫠)

Looking forward to hearing the delightful traits your parents have blessed you with to distract me from this hellhole of polyester and steam 😤
