Will we be opening at midnight? No, we are too old and that is far too late. Will we be doing anything exciting to celebrate what will be the most exciting day of the year? Also no, we will be taking pre-orders (£20) and opening at 9am on the 27th October so that Natalie can buy her copy and immediately race home to read and reread for at least two days then come back ready to discuss the joy/ horror/ delight/ tears and inevitable heart stopping gut wrenching cliffhanger that we all know this nasty queen will put us through. And hopefully Az will get to kiss someone. 👍✨.

Another lazy summer holiday in Mallorca for David and I. Read, swim, eat, drink, repeat. Here’s what I read. Yesteryear is a cheat as I finished it before we went away, couldn’t put it down! I also loved The Correspondent. The Calamity Club (written by the author of The Help) was fabulous, and if you’re looking for something with a similar tone to Lessons in Chemistry, then Meet the Newmans is for you! Kirsty is away roasting by a pool for a couple of weeks (she’s enjoying The Correspondent!) so we are closed on Monday so that I can have a second day off, then we’ll be back to our normal Monday-Friday 9-5. (I’ll be taking my car to the garage so don’t be too jealous. 😂)

The Correspondent has been by far our most requested novel this year, and it’s just been published in paperback. Neither of us have read it yet, so if you have what did you think? ‘Sybil Van Antwerp is seventy-three, slowly losing her sight and always writing letters. To her children. Her favourite authors.Her ex-sister-in-law. The journalist poking into her past. Her doctor.Suitors. Kindly neighbours. The infuriating gardening club.
All receive Sybil’s witty, wise correspondence, rich with everyday concerns. But there is one letter that she has never sent. It concerns the darkest period of her life.
