This is a fine example of why having your machine serviced regularly is important. I’m surprised this brush roll was still turning! Definitely the worst one I’ve seen so far. 5-10 minutes with a Stanley knife and it was turning freely again.

You wouldn’t buy an expensive car and not look after it. The same goes for vacuum cleaners.

Servicing is £20 plus parts. Much cheaper than a new machine! 😁 this also ensures that your machine is operating efficiently.

Currently refurbishing this Dyson V7. Another fine example of why it isn’t a good idea to use these or any other Domestic vacuum cleaner for building works.

These machines aren’t designed to handle this type of dust, as you can see here it’s got past the cyclones, pre motor filter and finally into the motor.

Instead, buy a Henry or similar machine, instead of using a much more expensive machine such as this and possibly damaging it 😎

Finally got round to servicing my Sebo K1. I haven’t done anything to it (apart from fitting a new bag) since I brought it second hand almost a year ago! So this was a first time for me.

These are fantastic German designed and built vacuum cleaners.

Unlike some machines (not mentioning any brands) these are very modular and are designed to be repaired. With spare parts available and easy to fit with a bit of basic know how. I turned the whole thing around including the hose and floor head in roughly three hours due to how easy it was to disassemble and put back together!

Just finished servicing one of these. A vax air reach. I’d never worked on a vax corded machine before and I must say. A lot better to work on than I thought they would be. This had been used to vacuum after building works. Not a good idea! Managed to save the motor with compressed air. Domestic machines can’t handle this type of dust.

All back up and running now, looking and sounding much better 🙂

I’ve just been on holiday to the Cotswolds. While I was there I visited the Cotswold motoring and toy museum and found these! Vintage mechanical push along carpet sweepers!

No fancy cyclones or HEPA filters on these, imagine having to use one of these today.

For those of you that have never seen one of these. Basically they had a brush roll, or two underneath. These were driven by the wheels and flicked the dirt into two containers either side. Very simple and effective and considered posh back in history.

I’ve seen many different brands and types of vacuum cleaner. So you may wonder, which is my favourite? This has to be the Sebo felix! (Pictured below) These are used in many commercial sectors like hotels.

I also have another Sebo machine (K1 air belt cylinder) Sebo machines may be expensive but they’re incredibly well built and very quiet.

They also have very good parts availability and are easy to repair, which can’t be said for some brands.

Ever wondered what’s inside a Dyson v7? Wonder no more. These cyclones help to remove dust from the airstream leading to less dust on the filter and more suction!

A Modern and classic Dyson machine in one photo! Dc75 cinetic (left) DC24 (right).

I personally prefer the older machines but the one on the left is interesting as it has no pre motor filter! It uses cyclone magic (to put it simply) to remove the dust. This was a first in the shed so presented me with a few challenges however, every day is a learning day. Both have been serviced to the usual high standards with a few replacement parts fitted as well.

Service on a Dyson V7 Animal 🧼🧽
These are lovely machines to work on, customer needed a quick turn around on this one. Fully stripped, cleaned, put back together, tested and back with customer. In two days 😁

Here are some simple things you can do to fix a loss of suction on your Dyson DC40. Also, don’t go over the max line, it’s there for a reason! If you do you run the risk of blocking the cyclones. Enjoy!
