Foxblade Trading and Re-enactment Shoes

Foxblade Trading and Re-enactment Shoes Manufacturer and supplier of bespoke and stock historic footwear and leather goods. Foxblade Trading is the trade name of Tod Booth.

I have been making leatherwork for over 30 years. Originally I made saddle bags, tool rolls and motorcycle seat covers. I started making leatherwork for my own use in historic re-enactment and it wasn't long before I was asked to make my friends things. As I have always had an interest in history I already had a large library to refer to for accurate examples. As time progressed so did word of my

work and I started supplying museums, national organisations, TV/film companies, historic interpreters, theatres, as well as historic re-enactors. I made the decision to go back to college and studied at Tresham Institute and gained my City and Guilds in shoemaking. The knowledge I gained along with the examples I have seen in museums and collections meant that I could make accurate footwear using traditional techniques and authentic materials. I also realised that not everyone wants bespoke footwear this can be because of price or because they need something at short notice. Working with a small shoemaking company I developed a range of off the peg footwear at reasonable prices. The designs are taken from existing examples or contemporary pictures. In general the uppers are hand sewn and the soles and machined. The designs have now been copied but when you buy from me you are buying form a qualified shoemaker and not a reseller. I now hold what I believe is the biggest stock of full leather historic footwear in the UK. I specialise in making the unusual and one offs. As well as an experienced and qualified leatherworker I am qualified as an Engineer and have worked in the Engineering Industry for most of my working life. Because of this I can design and manufacture items to your specification, everything I make is completely handmade, I use no machines. If you are looking for quality workmanship from someone who knows about leatherwork and shoes I can help. To contact me please email or ring me.

The plan at the moment is to sell the footwear business. I have had some interest but as it's quite a lot of stock no one has come forward to buy it. If you are seriously interested email me.
Assuming it doesn't sell and I can still get space at TORM I am looking for two members of staff to cover the three days of TORM, 13,14,15 November. This will involve unloading the van on Friday, setting up the stand, helping customers, sales, packing down and loading the van on Sunday.
You must be physically fit as the boxes are heavy, focused as it gets very busy, personable as you are dealing with a lot of different people, have your own re enactment kit (period doesn't matter but remember you will be working). If you've worked for me before that would be a great advantage. You will be paid a daily rate and get lunch provided. I do not pay traveling or accommodation. I do not want families or children in tow. Please think before you apply.
If you are interested email me with TORM staff Nov26 in the title of the email to [email protected] Do NOT post here.

It's sometime since I posted an update. This is because I've had lots of medical appointments and a spell in hospital as I was not far from collapsing. I'm glad to say I'm feeling a bit better and can at least walk a bit.
I've sent out a stock value of the footwear side of the business to those who were genuinely interested and will be following that up with more detailed information. There are five interested parties so Re enactment Shoes should be continuing with new owners - I hope!
I've managed to do a little work in the workshop. My plan is to continue the leatherwork side of the business (how I started 30 years ago) for as long as I can but at my speed. This week I made a 1740's buff leather sword belt and cut a 17th century leather jerkin. It's a start after not doing anything for months and I have to remember not to burn myself out.

An update.
As I announced previously the Re enactment Shoes business is up for sale. I just don't have the mental or physical energy to run it anymore. What's available is all of the footwear stock, the website address, my manufacturing contacts and free advice from me.
This is a profitable business with a good turn over through mail orders and I strongly suggest that whoever buys it applies to trade at TORM which is really busy and well worth it.
I am just completing the stock valuation to circulate to seriously interested parties and then I will review offers sent to me by email. I would like to do this and make a decision by the end of May.

If you have ordered from me you will have received the automatic reply. I will not be processing any orders. I have not sent any mail orders since last year. I'm sorry for this but the illness has put a stop to almost everything and if I get a good day it's unusual particularly since I started chemotherapy.

My email is [email protected]

An update.
I'm now undergoing chemotherapy and immunotherapy so nothing is happening with the business. I apologise but no orders have been processed since TORM last year and that's not going to change in the immediate future.
However I have a plan. The van will be unloaded after March's TORM in the next two weeks. I'm not up to doing it so have got some help. I'm working on a better work station so I can process orders as sitting at my laptop is very uncomfortable and I can't do invoices on my phone. My laptop also needs another update.
I'll be looking for someone to help pick and pack orders they will need to be local to Brackley.
Once that's all done we might be back to semblance of normality.
As always until further notice I do not take money until you have the goods. I will not do urgent deliveries. No special orders. No overseas orders.
If anyone is genuinely interested in buying g Re enactment Shoes as a business drop me an email but please do some research first this is a well established business with the biggest and best stock of footwear in the UK if not Europe. People come to me because of the quality of the product and the company's reputation. I'm calculating the stock value which is in thousands not hundreds of pounds.
I will be continuing as Foxblade Trading should the footwear business sell.

19/03/2026

Until further notice all footwear orders are on hold. If you haven't received a reply email or invoice your order is on hold as I start my chemotherapy tomorrow and that is a whole new journey for me and I don't know what the side effects will be.
The last month or so has been a really busy time where I've focused on me and my health. I've had so many hospital and doctor's appointments I've had to start a file to keep a record. That along with TORM has meant the mail orders business had to take a step back. I'm sorry if that's meant you didn't get your footwear but I have to prioritise myself.
I'll try and get back on track when I can.
Thank you to everyone for their best wishes it is appreciated.

Thanks to everyone who came to TORM. I appreciate the support. We had the best market ever and cleaned a lot of stock.
It wore me out which is no surprise considering my medical condition. I'll spend today trying to recharge .
If you have mail ordered in the last month I will be sending out invoices this week. Read them carefully! You are the last customers to benefit from try before you buy. After that it's the full invoice to be paid and NO returns or refunds as I clear stock this will clearly be stated in the invoice and reflected in the price. The website will be updated in time.
I have a lot to do and not a lot of energy but again thanks for the support.

SOLD
The best re enactment tent ever! I designed and had this made three years ago and have used it about 10 times. It consists of three parts that can be used in multiple combinations.
Two large wedge tents. One large awning. It also comes with a triangular end section that can be laced to the awning to make a blunt end. This was made by Period Tents of high quality waterproof and rot proof canvas. It comes with all poles, pegs, ground sheets and ropes.
Sizes are in the attached picture in meters. Some one might have better pictures but you can see from the photographs how I set it up. It can be erected as separate pieces which makes life easy. After 30 years of living history I knew exactly what I wanted. I now have cancer so am selling this on to someone or a group that can use it. I know no one in the UK is making and I'm not into profiteering. There are separate hessian bags for the tent, poles and pegs which makes things easier.
Please do not hijack this thread. Only respond if you are genuinely interested and can collect in the next few weeks from Brackley Northamptonshire. You will need a big car or van. I can take pictures of it packed up.
I paid over £1800 for the whole set up. If you could get this made now it would be well over £2000. I'm offering this for £1500.
I'm advertising elsewhere so please email me [email protected]

If you are on my personal page you will have read I have cancer. This very obviously means lots of changes. Please read below.
All custom orders are cancelled. If I have something of yours contact me for it's return. Use EMAIL!
I plan to be at TORM in a few weeks. It's likely that for part of the weekend I will be absent from the stall as I get very tired. My wife and two staff will be there to serve you.
Everything will be heavily discounted to clear stock. I will be giving up to 50% discount. Vultures can go and do one, respectful customers making reasonable offers for bulk buys will be very welcome.

I will still be taking mail orders by EMAIL ONLY! They will take longer. You need to read how to order on my website, you'd be amazed how many people don't. After TORM there will be discount prices but I will no longer offer "try before you buy" and payment for the footwear will have to be made in full. There will be no returns unless the footwear is faulty. The reason for this changes are obvious.
I will not take your money unless I know I have stock to send.

If you chase me over an order I will ignore you as I have higher priorities at the moment. That is unless you have paid me.
I do not and never provided tracking numbers unless a shipment has gone missing.
I am no longer shipping outside the UK as too many countries have import duty and regulations I don't want to deal with.

The above may seem blunt but it's to the point and I need to keep things as simple as possible for me.

As always for ALL orders EMAIL me
[email protected]

09/02/2026

Today I have started processing footwear orders again. Because of my illness orders will take longer than usual and I will not do urgent deliveries.
I will no longer respond to stock enquiries as stock can change daily and checking stock that isn't ordered wastes my time.
To order you must provide your full name, address, phone number, the stock code of the footwear and the full UK shoe size. I do not do size conversions or half sizes. If you don't provide the information I cannot process the order and won't get into email ping pong.
At present I am not shipping outside the UK.
All orders must be sent to me by email to [email protected]
