Could you offer one of these creatures a forever home? 🌿

Some of these faces have been travelling with me to festivals and events for a couple of years now, and I've decided it's time to give them a little extra encouragement to find their forever homes.

So tomorrow I'll be bringing this special collection to the Iron Duke Festival, with one-off festival prices alongside all my newer Valerian Fibres creations.

They're still the same unique, handcrafted creatures — they've just been waiting rather patiently for the right person to find them!

Saturday 19 September, 1.30–5pm at The Hall, Bradford-on-Avon.

A little changing of the guard at The Crafty Hive today! 🌿

I've been swapping some of my creatures around ready for Saturday's Iron Duke Festival. The hare and badger are coming back with me so that they can join the Valerian Fibres stall at the festival, while some different faces have taken their places at Crafty Hive.

The fox was supposed to come home too... but I discovered he'd been given pride of place in the shop window, so I didn't have the heart to move him! 🦊 He's staying put and I've started making another half fox mask instead. I think I've decided that I always need a fox.

And that means that this Saturday afternoon there'll be two places to find Valerian Fibres in Bradford-on-Avon — my full festival stall at the Iron Duke Festival at The Hall, and more creatures just across the road at The Crafty Hive on Silver Street.

Between The Hall and Crafty Hive, there should be quite a gathering of creatures in Bradford-on-Avon on Saturday! 🌿

Looking back through the last few months, I hadn't quite realised how many creatures had emerged from the Valerian Fibres workshop!

Firebirds, foxes, rabbits, owls, Green Men, Dryads and quite a few others have appeared along the way — some have already flown off to new homes, while others are still waiting to be discovered.

🔥 The Firebirds have returned…

It has been a busy summer in the Valerian Fibres workshop. I've been experimenting with some new ways of combining wet felting and needle-felting, and all sorts of creatures have been emerging — Firebirds, Dryads, owls, rabbits, foxes and more.

I've gathered together some of my favourite photographs in a new-style online newsletter, along with the stories of Felix the fox and Spinning Jenny, the mask I was commissioned to create for Trowbridge Museum.

Two young rabbits have just hopped out of the Valerian Fibres workshop! 🐇🐇

These two were an absolute delight to make — similar enough to belong together, but each seems to have developed a character all of their own.

Like all my animal masks, they have a removable eye-pad, so they can be worn as a mask or displayed as wall art when their adventures are over.

And, of course, I couldn’t resist trying one on myself…

Some people fall in love with the mask. Some people fall in love with the pet! 🐏

Meet Ramzon — my tenth ram.

Rams have always felt rather special to me — the fathers of the wool that lies at the heart of everything I make — and Ramzon is one of my most elaborate creations.

The idea behind my animal masks has always been that they can have two lives: worn to a fabulous festival, masked ball or celebration, and then brought home to live on as a piece of textile wall art.

Either is perfect.

The wonderful part for me is seeing that moment when somebody connects with one of my creations and decides they want to give it a home.

🌿 Red and Green in Harmony! ❤️💚

Definitely a Green Man for summer — leafy, vibrant and super-light to wear. This one was made for stepping into the green and joining the festivities!

Hand-felted in natural wool and ready for the next adventure.
