We have provided 31 children with lunch over the last 3 days 🤩

Really great to see some kids coming in on their own whilst playing out and hungry and maybe finances at home mean they don’t have access to expensive fast food or food on the go- this is why we provide this service so no child needs to go hungry ♥️

This week the meals were made possible by donations from local businesses and local people and the lunches consisted of

Sausage roll donated by Marshalls Bakehouse
Drink
Crisps
Biscuit all 3 donated by local people
Yoghurt
Fruit both donated by Debbie Eyre Tesco Queensbury

Next weeks lunches will be sandwiches 😊

Today we had a visit from Peter who is the charity steward at The Lodge of Prince George 308- Freemasons lodge in Hebden Bridge.

They had been to Tesco and spent £500 on food for our foodbank and dropped it off this morning ♥️

This is such a huge help to us and will take our usual £600 food bill down massively for next week 🙏

Huge thank you from our volunteers and service users 😊

⭐ WARD BOUNDARIES CHANGE ⭐

On Thursday 7th May Bradford Councils new ward boundaries came into action meaning the following streets are no longer within the Queensbury ward…

Westbury Road, Eastbury Avenue, Roy Road, Torre Road, Torre Crescent, Dene Road and Mandale Road ♥️

These streets are now in the Royds/Buttershaw ward.

This means we can no longer supply food parcels to anyone living at the above addresses and your closest foodbank will be Sandale Trust.

The link below has all the information needed

🌟 IMPORTANT REMINDER 🌟

It saddens us to have to write this, especially as we are in our 6th year of running and this isn’t the first time we have had to address this issue…

We are an independent, self funded foodbank- we rely solely on donations from the public and grants that we have to personally apply for and hope we are successful.

We are not owned or funded by a larger organisation or Bradford council. With this in mind we would like to remind people that we are a FOODBANK FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE IN IMMEDIATE FOOD POVERTY OR FOOD CRISIS.

By this we mean you have exhausted all other options to obtain food for yourself and your family and you are using our service to feed your family when there is no food at home or money left to purchase food.
We are not a free supermarket. We are a charity.

This week alone we have witnessed people coming to our foodbank carrying bags of alcohol they’ve just purchased from the shop, we’ve witnessed conversations about people partaking in nights out this coming weekend and last, we have seen people choosing to pay for beauty and aesthetic treatments costing into the hundreds instead of choosing to pay for food for their families first… and that is just a few examples!
We could go on.

This is not the definition of being in food poverty, this is simply having your priorities wrong and taking advantage of our charity and our volunteers and we will not tolerate it!

Going forward anyone seen or heard to be taking advantage of our charity will be issued with an immediate and permanent ban!

As always everyone is welcome to use our hub as a warm space, free breakfast and use of our facilities but our food provision services is for those people who find themselves in food poverty and crisis.

We will not be taken advantage of when we provide such an essential service for those people who are in genuine need… we will not allow our service to be used to the extent that we can no longer facilitate the genuine needs of genuine people!
