A brief stroll, with glimpses of the House of Dun, to the courtyard where will be setting for our Art Market this weekend.

First time I’ve attempted narrating, videoing and walking in conjunction, think I was rather anxious and breathless. Hope you caught a glimpse of the atmosphere and breadth of serenity. I do deeply feel these places, now belong to us.

It’s the first day of !!!

My story began with coming first in Tri - Dimensions at the National Eisteddfod when I was 10 years old 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
Manchester Polytechnic now Metropolitan University degree in Three Dimensional Design was a mind expanding deep delve into materials, forms and opportunities that I had dreamt about.

My foremost interest has been functional tableware. When returning home to visit family in India or Wales, I recall the sound of teacups chinking and the kettle brewing on the stove, for me it’s a deeply embedded symbol of being welcomed and loved. Hence I’ve carried that ritual into the form, function and surface colour of my tableware.

I work from my garden pottery in Angus, which is based in the foothills of the Cairngorms 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

This week is a fabulous opportunity to discover the superb cohort that is a curated directory of designer makers .amaker

A huddle of Maharani mugs, sitting on a pub chair from up North near Findhorn. The interior glaze is drying in the sun, whilst simultaneously being absorbed by the dry bisque body of the vessel. Creating a waterproof bond.

The mugs will be dip glazed, allowed to dry thoroughly and then finally glaze fired.

The Jaipur Pink Teapot is available on my website shop. I’ve re stocked the shop with mugs, cups and saucers, dipping bowls, egg cups and candlestick holders - to name but a few.

My last posting date is Wednesday 17 December. I will only be posting 1st Class Royal Mail, so as to get the parcels to their destination before Christmas 🎄

Tomorrow I will be at CLAY FESTIVAL MARKET, Hospitalfield, Arbroath.

Celebrating the work of ceramic artists from near and far; Talks, Market, Workshops, Firing.

At Hospitalfield we bring networks of artists together throughout the year through our residencies, study days and learning programmes. With CLAY the common thread between artists and makers is a single material, here we see many different parts of the process of using clay and the astonishing outcome of using earth and heat.

📆 Market - Saturday 6 December 11am - 3pm

📍Hospitalfield
Arbroath, Angus, DD11 2NH, Scotland
