Phwew! This one’s like an essay, but it had to be said! ⬇️

It can feel like an impossible task to change what companies supply. Opting for silicone, glass and wood over plastic is a great start. If we’re looking at textiles, opt for natural fibres such as linen, cotton, or h**p over plastic fibres such as polyester, acrylic, nylon, and spandex.

I hope this informs and inspires you in some way! With today’s prompt being Learn, I wanted to share a more informative post. But even more so, I hope you all want to soak up as much info as you can to make the most informed decisions in life.

With that, here are some of my favourite accounts that have taught me so much. I hope you check them out!

👋 Hey! It’s me! Hi! Today’s prompt is giving me a chance to introduce myself, which always seems hard to do in such a small space.

I’m Carissa Rau, I’m 30, I’m an American though I’ve been living in Scotland for 2.5 years now! My husband and I live and work and raise our kids here. We have Arlo (4) and Chantal (6) who are just the best.

I work a day job as a graphic designer (read: wearer of all digital communication hats) at an engineering consultancy in Glasgow. I studied design at PLNU in San Diego. After that my husband and I moved to China for a year which was one of the best experiences of my life. I’m dying to go back for a visit and to feel properly fed again.

In work and in life, I’m all about progress over perfection, stitching before ditching, used before new and repurposing the old. I’m here to not only sell cute things, but to inspire and inform and I hope I can do that well, even if infrequently!

4 perfect uses for a Hollace zipper pouch! ⬇️

1. Little things to keep the kids busy: scrap paper and crayons, Polly Pockets, a mirror 😅 whatever engages them!

2. Reusable pads, menstrual cup or tamps, extra underthings, pain killers. Chocolate.

3. Day trip necessities: portable charger, snacks, chapstick, hand sani, cards and cash. Maybe chocolate in this one, too.

4. On-the-go cosmetics: lip colour, concealer, hand cream, tiny travel fragrance, your compact mirror the kids like to play with.

All 4 of these lovely lil thangs are in the shop! Link in bio 💕

There’s only one utensil holder left in the shop! With a little creative thinking you could find another use for this, such as a holder for paint brushes, makeup brushes, your tools for ceramics… so many possibilities ✨ my spoon and chopsticks not included.

Blue Monday isn’t so bad, right? We woke up to a little snow this morning ❄️ I do not mind!

Also blue in a good way: this William Morris willow bough pattern is making her way to my kitchen. I’ve got a cupboard curtain in the works to hide our washing machine and dishwasher. I’m too excited for this project! Peep my stories for my ✨inspo✨ and vote: to ruffle or not to ruffle?

Developing a stronger capsule wardrobe is one of my 2023 goals. And I’ve been thinking: why let this concept stop at the wardrobe when your whole home could be streamlined, versatile and timeless?

Swipe through for my thoughts on a capsule home. What would you add to this??

It feels like the year to build better habits: to shop our own shelves first, buy used, buy repurposed, and waste nothing ✨

New in the shop! ✨ Scandinavian Star Ornaments! These are made from scrap fabric mostly from ’s offcuts. They can be used on top of wrapped gifts or around the neck of a w**e bottle for gifting, then kept and used as a Christmas ornament.

These were so fun to make. I can’t wait to make more with other pattern combos. They’re too cute!

My shop has migrated to Depop! Link in bio!

Hey guys! It’s been a minute. I started a full-time job doing graphic design after 3.5 years at home with the babies. I’ve been balancing work and home for 6 months now and Hollace has suffered for it. But a salary is nice, you know?

So, I’ve paused my site since I’m not really pushing sales, and I’m going to list some items on Depop. I still sew and will have some new items here and there. I still have a ton of fabric scraps… there’s more to come!
