Don’t get me wrong, I have had some fantastic advice over the years and I always welcome well meaning contributions, but as we all know there are just some people you meet along the way who always know better and try to make you feel inferior just because you aren’t doing things the way they do them.

I met one such person recently at a trade fair and they (almost) made me doubt myself and my choices, giving me completely unsolicited advice about how I should be doing things without knowing me or my business at all! It totally caught me off guard. And then I came to my senses! 😃

We are coming up to 12 years in business, going strong thanks to the loyal and lovely punters of Brighouse and surrounding areas. We are quirky, yes! We are unique, yes! I don’t have a fancy till or website. We wrap everything carefully and proudly because that is, and always has been my ethos. We have an upstairs which is well trodden by customers. I sell plants cos I love them and don’t sell anything I don’t think is cute or gorgeous. And I have made sure I’ve always been there to pick my girl up from school. Every decision has been made with care and thought and what is best for me and mine. And although there’s always more to learn, one thing I know for sure, I will never EVER presume to tell another business owner how they should be doing things!

Im happy doing my own thing, my own way and I measure myself against where I have come from and where I’m aiming for next, not against anyone else.

Anyone else ever been told what they are doing “wrong”?
