Neck Work…

It’s been a busy week, with a fair few instruments passing through the workshop. This one is still in progress - an Epiphone acoustic which had a headstock break. It’s now been re-glued, braced with dowels and is currently being re-sprayed… If you have a guitar or bass that needs some more serious work like this, please get in touch!

I get a fair few enquiries for re-frets that, on closer inspection, turn out to be guitars that really only need the frets levelling and then a dress and polish. What may look like serious divots in the frets - you know, at the "cowboy chord" end usually - can often be filed away when levelling all the frets. And of course, it's not as expensive to have your frets levelled, dressed and polished!...

Buzzing amps this week…

There’s been a buzz about the workshop this week… literally, as I’ve been repairing amps with buzzing issues!

A Divided By 13 combo had a buzzing at low frequencies, which turned out to be a bit of loose shielding on the inside of the back cover.

And a Morgan combo had a similar issue which turned out to be the end of a cable tie that had somehow found its way in between the speaker and the grill cloth.

If you have an amp that sounds off, please get in touch. I’m now an expert in finding bits of detritus in places they shouldn’t be..!
