Seven years ago, we opened the doors to HOLD in Brighton - the bricks-and-mortar home of Lagom Design.
HOLD grew from a long-held ambition to create a different kind of shop: a place filled with beautifully crafted, thoughtfully designed products from independent, like-minded makers and brands around the world. Things made with purpose, made to last and, most importantly, not destined for landfill.
A lot has happened since we first opened our doors. We’ve navigated a global pandemic, Brexit, rising business rates and ever-increasing costs. Independent retail has certainly had its challenges, but seven years on, we’re still here, and more committed than ever to keeping our high streets independent, interesting, and full of character.
Today, HOLD has customers across 60 countries, including many who have been shopping with us since day one. That support is something we never take for granted.
So, as we celebrate our seventh birthday, we simply want to say thank you. To everyone who has walked through our door, ordered from us online, recommended us to a friend, or returned time and again - you genuinely mean so, so much to us.
Your support gives us the drive and determination to keep doing what we love: seeking out good design, supporting creativity and proving that there will always be a place for thoughtful, independent retail.
And there’s another milestone just around the corner. Next year, Lagom Design celebrates its 20th anniversary - two decades of design, creativity, and doing things our own way. HOLD has become an important part of that story, and we’re incredibly excited about the next chapter.
Here’s to seven years of HOLD, nearly twenty years of Lagom Design, and plenty more to come.
