Domino Records might be cashing in on this glorious piece of art right now with a re-release, but why settle for that when you can get the original in all its glory, which was self-released by the band? The first full-length studio follow up to Loveless, this album was two decades in the making and an astounding return. Creating a new timeline for the legendary band, one that recalled its past in a brighter light and made their entire catalogue stronger for it. The album is very often more pleasing than anything he had written before, whilst keeping the original vision in tack and not compromising in any shape or form. An absolute masterpiece. ⁠

& - UNLOCKED - (2020)

This album is unbelievable, they pack so much into such a short release, Kenny’s creative agility combined with Denzel’s lyrical ability is a perfect match, the weighty drums and beefy bass alongside the energetic and impassioned delivery comes through like an upper-cut to the face. But one of the most enduring qualities of the record is that you can tell they are having fun.

I picked this up in one of my fave record shops, , after visiting my old home of Brighton for a week last summer.

Your favourite band’s favourite band’s favourite band. The first punk record, predating the movement by ten years. I wrote an essay on this album at uni, but I’ll try and keep this shorter. A legendary album in anyone’s book, a fearlessly boundary pushing piece of work, with one of the most iconic album artworks of all time, designed by the legendary artist the album is named after. (This version has the peal-able banana sticker too.) essential to any collection.

& - She (2019)

I bought this album via an Instagram message and a cheeky PayPal link and had it in my postbox two day’s later. It was weirdly intimate way to buy an album by last year’s standards. The equivalent of buying from an artist on the merch desk I guess.

It’s a stunning collaboration, mixing rootsy sickly sweet soul vocals akin to Amy Winehouse (I don’t say that lightly) and some top class hip hop beat production.

I’m posting this today because has just recently released new track ‘Stuntin’’ and I’m certain will catapult this year. Keep an eye out!

🏷 FOR SALE: My Bloody Valentine - Tremolo 12" E.P

Another had to come by piece which would be a great addition to a collection, this cult classic EP came prior to the legendary shoegaze pioneers' most famous LP 'Loveless' that was released the same year. The EP featured the band more heavily utilising samplers, which allowed them to massively open up a lid on new creative ideas. It also features a different version of their track 'To Here Knows When'.

Yellow Days - Harmless Melodies (2016)

2016 was the most prime year for ‘bedroom pop’ as a genre, when their was tonnes of artist rising through, mixing hip hop, soul and jazz with big reverby drenched guitars (and totally in debt to King Krule, but who’s complaining)

This EP for me is one of the finest moments of the movement, I pretty much listened to it non stop. Both the instrumentation and George van den Broek’s voice is oozing with soul and emotion on every track of this EP.

🏷️ ON SALE: Animal Collective - Strawberry Jam

Before the breakout success of Merriweather, came Strawberry Jam. The cooler older cousin, the Solange to Beyonce. This is the seed that planted the flower, before it’s more mainstream leaning follow up, Strawberry Jam was equal parts art and pop, a perfect balance like nothing else, where the band’s abstract and catchy sides were in constant awareness of what the other was doing, creating a perfect cult jem, broadening the band’s fan base whilst completely satisfying their early flag planters. A rare feat indeed.
