While I was visiting Top Drawer, I had the pleasure of listening to an incredibly inspiring talk from Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, founder of The Black Farmer. 🌱

His talk was all about building a brand that stands for something — and his story, passion and determination really stayed with me. 💚

I love hearing the stories behind the businesses and brands we come across, and Wilfred’s passion for what he has built was infectious! 🙌

It certainly got me thinking about what makes a brand truly meaningful… and why, as an independent shop, it’s so important to us to stock brands with a story, a purpose and something a little bit different. 🛍️✨

One of the unexpected bonuses of running an independent business is the wonderful people you meet along the way! 💕✨

Take Emma from Wow Toys… she popped into the shop to show me the new Bopster Fidgets and somehow ended up braiding my hair! 😂💇‍♀️

That’s the thing about Emma — she’s always full of positivity, enthusiasm and brilliant ideas, and she genuinely goes the extra mile to support our little independent business. 🥰

It’s people like Emma who make running an independent shop so much more than just selling toys. 🧸❤️ It’s about the relationships, the laughter, the support… and apparently, the occasional impromptu hair appointment! 😂

📦🚨 FLASHBACK TO… DELIVERY DAY! 🚨📦

One Friday afternoon, our delivery from one of our lovely French brands decided to arrive late on a Friday… because obviously! 😂🙈

Cue me turning into Roadrunner … beep beep🏃‍♀️💨

Boxes in ➡️ stock unpacked ➡️ everything priced ➡️ system updated ➡️ stock put away… and BREATHE! 😂🙌

There’s definitely no such thing as a quiet Friday afternoon in the toy shop! 🤣📦✨

But when the new goodies arrive, it’s all worth it! ❤️

💩😂 I couldn’t resist buying this game… because, honestly, who doesn’t giggle at the word POO?! 🤣

On Sunday I headed to Top Drawer at Olympia to catch up with some of our wonderful suppliers, discover what’s new and, of course, get lots of inspiration for new toys & gifts for Wigwam! 🧸🎁

There’s something so exciting about seeing what’s coming next, discovering new brands and products, and having a good old catch-up with people we’ve got to know over the years. 💕 It’s one of the best parts of being an independent shop owner!

I’ve come home with lots of ideas and plenty to think about… 👀✨

So, watch this space! You never know what exciting things might be making their way onto the shelves at Wigwam! 🥰
