I am very happy to have been asked to take part in Secret Ceramics during . This year it is being hosted by Sotheby’s and raising funds for , a project giving over 2,000 young people each year the chance to explore creativity, find focus, and discover themselves. Can’t wait to go and see all donated pieces next week in London.

Shino Bowls - I have worked to a large scale recently, but I still find perfection in an everyday functional object such as a bowl. You know if your heart lifts when you open the kiln that you’ve got it right. Gas kiln reduction firing cone 9.

Crackle Bowl - Small bowl with an iron rich clay and an iron rich glaze, fired to Cone 9 in a gas kiln. This is the beauty of gas, it brings out the iron flecks in the clay body, bringing another dimension to the ceramics. Many more experiments to be done, and a shop update in May, I hope.

Shino Bowl - we have been busy building a gas kiln - it’s hasn’t been fun or easy! But we are now showing some positive results. Thank heavens for for having the get up and go and drive to get this done. There will be only small sacrificial objects for now, larger pieces for when the kiln gods are happy, and for when I know what the hell I’m doing.

Pedestal Vase - I’ve been away for a while. Time away makes you think about what is important, what means something to us and what drives us forward. My piece here shows new fluidity, resisting perfection. It is part hand thrown, part hump moulded and part coiled. Multi layered with porcelain slip and decorated in a bitter brown oxide.
