🙌 Volunteers are needed to help Clean Up Bristol Harbour celebrate its 10th anniversary this Sunday.

Families and individuals can join a self-guided litter pick around the harbourside from 10am-12pm, with equipment available from All-Aboard Watersports by the Cottage Inn.

Over the past decade, volunteers have removed huge amounts of rubbish from the harbour – including bottles, cans, plastic waste and some much stranger finds.

The project now needs support both on the day and through a new Crowdfunder as it looks to continue into its 11th year.

đź’— An afternoon tea near Bristol is raising money for Breast Cancer Now this October.

Families and friends are invited to Bristol Memorial Woodlands near Thornbury on Saturday 3 October for tea, coffee, cakes and sweet treats, with donations supporting the breast cancer charity.

There’ll also be a raffle and the chance to explore the beautiful 100-acre woodland setting.

🥋 Try a whole month of taekwondo for FREE in Bristol!

South West Taekwondo School in Lyde Green is inviting children and adults to enjoy a full month of classes at no cost.

Little Dragons sessions for ages 4–7 combine taekwondo with confidence, fitness, coordination and practical life skills, while classes for ages 8+ and adults include self-defence, fitness, gradings and traditional ITF taekwondo.

All abilities are welcome.

đź‘‹ Pupils at Pensford Primary School have welcomed Damian Knollys as their new Headteacher.

Damian brings 32 years of teaching and school leadership experience to the village primary, including previous Headteacher roles at Midsomer Norton and Peasedown St John.

“I have already been given such a warm welcome and I'm looking forward to getting to know all the children, their families, the staff and the wider community of Pensford,” he said.

Bristol children’s hospice-at-home charity Jessie May is asking people to consider leaving a gift in their Will to help ensure seriously ill children and their families can continue receiving specialist nursing care in their own homes.

Jessie May nurses support families across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Bath & North East Somerset and Wiltshire, providing everything from specialist nursing and respite for parents to sibling support and bereavement care.

Among the families supported is Freya’s. Her mum Kelly said, “There’s no judgement; they just make sure that you’re okay.”

New SEND support for parents in Bristol đź’›

A new wellbeing group for Muslim mums of children with SEND is launching in Easton on 28 September, offering friendship, support and mental wellbeing strategies that connect with Muslim faith.

Murmuration Community Therapy is also continuing its free monthly SEND Together meetings for Global Majority parent carers at Junction 3 Library.

🌳 Schools are being invited to turn climate concern into positive action by taking part in JUST ONE Tree Day on Friday 16 October. JUST ONE Tree

The event is completely free for schools, with curriculum-linked resources and activities provided, while pupils can also donate ÂŁ1 to help plant a tree through reforestation projects around the world.

More than 250,000 children have taken part since 2019, helping to plant over 475,000 trees.

A £6 MILLION transformation has given a Bristol primary school a new nursery, library, classrooms and outdoor spaces. 🎒📚

Children at E-ACT Badock’s Wood Academy in Southmead even helped shape the redevelopment, including designing a new climbing frame and choosing playground activities.

The project will also see Elmfield School for Deaf Children move onto the site, with its new home due to open to pupils in 2027.
