A small batch of our lovely ‘Facet’ ring boxes have just been completed in Ash with colourful veneered tops and are now available to order from our website or to purchase - call in if you want to feel the quality and hear the satisfying ‘snap’ of the lid closing- either way, ‘Facet’ is perfect for holding a single ring in style!

We’re in the process of making some exciting new Facet ring boxes using Ash instead of Walnut to offset the vibrant veneer colours and give them a lighter summer vibe. The boxes now have to be finished and the interiors fitted so will be available to buy soon- look out for the final photos, hopefully by the end of May.

Introducing our very stylish ‘Memphis’ ring box which is one of our current favourites! It has a space to hold 5 large rings or more smaller ones in an upright position. The top marquetry design made from natural sycamore and grey and green tulipwood veneers, was inspired by our appreciation of the wonderful surface patterns created by the Memphis group and used on their iconic pieces of furniture. Our stockists include Gallery Nine, Bath, The New Craftsman, St Ives and MAKE Southwest, Bovey Tracy.

Introducing our beautiful new jewellery box ‘Pear’ which will be available to order from our website later today! The solid walnut base has a subtle olive green velvet lined interior with a space to hold small pieces of jewellery, as well as four rings in an upright position side by side. The sycamore/ tulip wood/ walnut veneered top has four skilfully inlaid green pears giving the box a stunning contemporary aesthetic. Again, ‘Pear’ has been inspired by our love of abstract art with links to the South West and in particular the work of William Scott and Mary Ford (we are lucky to own three of her original collage paintings).

Our beautiful Nova jewellery box at 3 different stages - 1. making the marquetry top, 2. just before cutting into the final hexagon shape and 3. the finished box. Just 3 stages of many! Now available to buy at St Ives.

Final few stages of making now - four coats of sealant with sanding in between today, then waxing and polishing with interior fitting , assembly, packing and posting to Cornwall to follow. This careful finishing technique brings out the beautiful hardwood colours, protects the veneers and makes the wooden walnut surface so smooth and tactile.

Making the marquetry tops is a slow but very therapeutic process, as inserting the tiny coloured hardwood veneers and seeing the designs come together is very enjoyable! Several more stages still to finish before sanding, waxing polishing, but we’re hoping to send our boxes to galleries in Devon, Cornwall and Bath very soon.
