Tomorrow (31st December) is our official last day of trading, and we’ll be toasting a fond farewell to 87 Gloucester Rd. If you’d like to join us for a glass of something bubbly please do come down to the shop between 4pm - 7pm. Other traders, customers, children, families, EVERYONE is welcome. X

Our stock of Winter and Christmas books are disappearing quickly. The same for advent calendars and wall calendars. Some books completely out of stock or only 1-2 copies left. So hurry, if you want to grab a beautiful book or two. Don’t forget our Mantra: when it’s gone it’s gone.

5-6 weeks ago we kept telling our customers NO MORE deliveries are coming, as we are closing down at the end of December.
Well, that was until I saw Gemma Koomen’s 2026 Wall Calendar and her still beautiful advent calendar and Freya Hartas Advent / activity Christmas book.
So, when 2 of my top favourite illustrators are producing Beautiful things again, I had no choice, and now they are in the shop all looking stunning. We only have a small stock so…Our Daily Mantra is: When it’s gone, it’s gone.

As most of you know by now, PLAYFULL TOYSHOP, is closing its doors on the 31st of December.
Therefore, we are not ordering in any more stock.
This means, that we are running out of certain items, or stock is very low.
Especially our Christmas and winter books.
So this is your last chance to grab one or two of our best sellers and our personal favourites. When they’re gone, they’re gone.

SO LONG, FAREWELL, AUF WEIDERSEHEN, ADIEU, ADIEU, ADIEU TO YOU AND YOU AND YOU! 👋🏻

Yes, it’s time to bid a fond farewell from all of us at Playfull Toyshop to all of you, our loyal customers and supporters.

We have been on the Gloucester Road with on one side and on the other for 23 years and now retirement beckons.

Our final day of trading will be on New Year’s Eve the 31st of December. By that time we are expecting the shelves to be almost empty 🤞🏻.

Please carry on shopping at all great independent shops wherever they may be! Your local High Street really needs you.

A massive thanks again for all our great memories created by you,our lovely customers over the last two decades or so.

23 years of crazy Christmases and this is going to be our last, hopefully we’ll get to see some familiar faces before we close our doors.

We received a pallet of goodies from the French company Djeco last week. If you love jigsaws, take a look at these new ones. They are all lush, gorgeous, beautiful etc. Jigsaws are not just for Christmas. They are for any day of the year.
