The dark can be really horribly painful. You can be stuck imagining there will be no light again. And sometimes it doesn't come quickly, but then sometimes there are the smallest rays of light pushing through.
Sometimes, the rays are so small and last for so little time you wonder if they were there. But you wondering and thinking about the light. Even just that thought starts to make a little headway into a lit place.
I believe that no matter how dark it gets, there will be light in time, and when it does, it will start to warm you.

It's autumn.
And I love it. I saw a beautiful red Acer Tree today, and it summed up the beginning of autumn for me. It was the moment I thought, "Yes, it's Autumn." And I acknowledged the shift in me.

Every season has its beauty.. But this one to me is absolutely glorious.

I want you to know Floriography is yours too. I have always wanted to be somewhere you can step into just to feel seen. There is no need to buy flowers.
I don't immediately ask what you want because you might just want to feel.

And that is so okay.

If you want a bunch for you or someone else who is experiencing anxiety, stress, depression try and give me as much information as you are comfortable with. That information will be confidential.
It's so I can use the best floral ingredients to meet yours or someone else's needs.

My phone gave me photos. Today Vera, we give you these. I am actually glad because I was going down a negative rabbit hole with my thinking. I needed a burst of colour.

I usually hate my phone presenting things to me. But this time it did good.

We are busy preparing and stocking for Autumn and Winter. I like this. I will update you. .

I feel bad to even go there, but dates for wreath workshops for Christmas are on the website. Yikes.

Evening,

This summer has been very difficult.

The summer is always quiet for walk-in customers. But this year has been terrible.

The heat didn't help at all.

If I don't have flowers, I don't waste the stock but I don't make anything to cover bills or earn anything.

There were weeks when I made very little. If floriography didn't have wonderful volunteers and support and I had to pay others, it would literally have collapsed.

It's always hard, and I don't mind hard, but it was near impossible.

I think some people are struggling with money, trying to minimalise spending. Some people have less money to spend.

I try to make flowers as accessible as possible. I can't beat the supermarket in cost, but we offer so much more in customer service, quality, and love. Another florist posted an interesting fact. In other countries supermarket sales make up for 20% of overall sales. In Britain supermarket sales are 50% and more of overall flower sales.

I think there is an assumption that as Floriography has managed 12 years and is still very much around, and has loyal and new customers that it's going to be okay. Well, the truth is we can't continue in the same way.

This week, i had a couple of busier days. But that doesn't make up for the 3 quiet days of walk-ins. I'm very lucky to have things like preorders, regular orders, weddings, and sadly funerals.

Some people arrive wanting flowers to be ready to go. I will make you something if you can wait. And now the weather is cooling. i will start making bunches up ready for walk-ins.

In all seriousness, it's difficult. I hope autumn is better.

Floriography is not automatically safe. There is no pot of money or savings. We rely on turning over and making a little money to pay bills and a wage for me. I'm not saying we are shutting down. I'm just being open about where we are at.

I'm feeling a bit better after being poorly, so I have a bit more energy to be creative.

I hope it's not that people don't want to come to floriography. My irrational self has been thinking this a lot.

Morning,
This is a kind of Mandela made in the quiet, gentle energy of the new moon in Virgo. Debbie Harding and i made it with gentle love, the kind of love that invites you to sit awhile. No pressure. Virgo moon - It's a time to break down big goals into more manageable, little steps.
I thought about it all last night, and yesterday on my personal wall I wrote about su***de prevention day, which was yesterday.
It makes sense to use the new moon energy.

Here is whst I wrote. And it is for all of you too.

Today is world su***de prevention day.
Please check in on people. Please try and talk to someone, friend, service or professional if you feel suicidal. I know it's not that easy. I do get that. I just don't have more words to make it better. Sometimes it feels like nothing will make you feel better. And for a bit it might not. But hold on. It will in time. It will.
I have gone there. And I still find myself falling towards it. But I know now when I'm unwell. I have that I am unwell but I know ( mostly) from losing people through su***de that the people who love you will spend their whole life with a hole in their heart.

I am so fortunate to have people around me that understand.

I am here for you. I promise you could always talk to me. I don't have all the answers. And I'm a little bit crazy but I will try and see you, and show you light no matter how dark it is. I will treat you with respect and show you love.
