MOTHERHOOD 🤍

This Mother's Day we're exploring the work of three influential female artists, each has used their practice to navigate both the joy and turbulence of motherhood.

As a go-to point of reference, this little book is always on hand during product development at the studio.

Sanzo Wada was an artist, teacher, costume and kimono designer during a turbulent time in avant-garde Japanese art and cinema. Wada was ahead of his time, developing the concept of combining colours and highlighting the importance of doing so, helping to pave the way for contemporary colour research.

If you flick through one of our (three!) copies of A Dictionary of Color Combinations, you'll find many swatches missing. Instead, they're taped to the studio walls ready to inspire the transformation of a black and white sketch into the final design 🎨

As was often the case, Sophie Taeuber-Arp’s work was for many years overshadowed by her husband, sculptor, painter, and poet Jean Arp. It's only very recently that her work has been celebrated and her fearlessly playful attitude recognised.

“Part of what young women are drawn to is Taeuber-Arp’s restless sense of freedom. She was not keeping herself only to one thing. She was liberated to do what she wanted.” - Curator, Walburga Krupp

See Sophie beautifully captured the first photo, and our studio wall full of drawings and research in the next.

It’s almost a year to the day that we first launched our pads.

Both practical and beautiful, they’re designed to be your ultimate desktop companion. You can use the weekly planner for daily to-do lists, tracking goals and making notes, while the dotted pages provide a structured space for your sketches, notes and ideas.

They’re a bespoke shape based on the golden ratio and have been intentionally designed to be slightly smaller than A4, so you can tear off and slip a page into your notebook without any overhang.

Both practical and beautiful, our Desktop Pads are designed as the ultimate desktop companion. You can use the weekly planner for daily to-do lists, tracking goals and making notes, while the dotted pages provide a canvas for your sketches, notes and ideas.

They are an unusual shape based on the golden ratio, and have been intentionally designed to be slightly smaller than A4, so that you can tear off and slip a page into your notebook without any overhang.
