Dog owner ordered to pay £822 for breaching Public Space Protection Order.

A Downend man was ordered to pay £822 after pleading guilty to failing to clean up after his dog. Following reports of repeated dog fouling outside shops on Cleeve Wood Road, enforcement action was taken to help keep public spaces cleaner and safer for residents, businesses and the wider community.

A big thank you to the group of volunteers from businesses within the rank of shops who gave up their time this morning to help tidy up the area around the front of the Cleeve Wood Road shops. This included w**ding, strimming, tree pruning, litter picking and so much more general tidying and clearing up. The space looks SO much better for it.

In no particular order thanks to the following for their help: Webbs Flowers, M Coleman Estate Agents, Four Seasons Chinese Takeaway, Webber & Spencer Ltd, West 70 Photography, Cleevewood Pharmacy, Style Collection, Downend Bikes & Scooters Ltd along with Co-Op Funeralcare and AG Surveys.

A volunteer group consisting of business owners at Cleeve Wood Road Shops will be carrying out some essential maintenance and w**d clearance tomorrow, Saturday 27th June, from 9:30am.

This work will focus specifically on the gravel area used for parking. The main council-owned parking spaces will remain fully open as normal.

As our volunteers will be working hard to tidy up the gravel land and the surrounding area, we'd kindly ask that drivers park elsewhere prior to the work beginning and for the duration of the morning. This ensures our team has full access and protects vehicles from any accidental damage from debris or stones.

Please note that vehicles are parked on the gravel area at the owner's risk during this time.

Sharing from West 70 Photography in Cleeve Wood Shops.

We are about to undertake some building work on the shopfront of our studio. We're very sorry in advance for how it's going to look while this work is done, but it'll only be for a few weeks.

The work includes installing brand new shopfront signage (exciting!) and some servicing work to our security shutter and shopfront (less exciting!). This will take a few weeks to complete in full, and during this time our signage will be temporarily removed, and our security shutter will likely be down for periods of time here and there. We're aware this won't look the best, temporarily, but it'll all be worth it when we have some beautiful new signage in place.

So please don't worry if you see our shutter down and our signage being removed - we're still very much here and in business, we're just getting a bit of a face lift and modernisation. We'll be back to looking beautiful in no time! 🥰

Unfortunately we need to share some news regarding a recent spike in break-ins at the rank of shops here at Cleeve Wood Road shops. The most recent incident took place during the early hours overnight, 11th April, around 1.30am.

These incidents have been reported to the police and we are working together as a group of businesses to keep the area safe, but we would appreciate if local residents could also keep an extra eye out and be vigilant. If you noticed anything unusual or have any footage that might be helpful, please contact the police via 101.

We have CCTV footage of the individuals involved, which has been passed to the police. We are not currently sharing this to help with the police investigation.
