We're thrilled to announce that our new community book exchange at the Cleeve Wood Road shops is officially installed and ready to use!
This fantastic little library has been brought to life thanks to a brilliant community effort. A huge thank you goes to Men in Sheds Downend for their incredible craftsmanship in building and installing such a sturdy, beautiful unit. We're also deeply grateful to the Downend & Bromley Heath Parish Council for supporting this project with grant funding.
You can find the book exchange right around the side of Cleevewood Pharmacy. We specifically chose this spot because it sits on flat, level ground, making it easily accessible for everyone, whether you're pushing a pram or using a mobility aid. It's also fully covered by CCTV and sits right next to the defibrillator, making it a safe, convenient addition to our local rank.
At its heart, this project is all about fostering a love of reading and building a stronger sense of community. The idea is simple: take a book that catches your eye, and leave one behind for someone else to enjoy when you can. Whether you're looking for a quick beach read, something for the kids or a hidden gem, there's a little something for everyone.
As it's just been installed, we'd love a few books to be dropped off to help build up our initial collection! If you have a couple of spare reads at home, please do feel free to pop them on the shelves. To keep the space tidy and easy for everyone to browse, we kindly ask that you only leave a few titles at a time. If you notice the shelves are already full, please hang onto your books until your next visit when some space has cleared, or take your pick from a few titles to make some space!
Next time you're visiting the shops, pop round, have a browse, and help us keep the story going! ๐๐
