“I found my wedding dress at Ashwell & Co a year before my wedding, so this review is a long time coming! The bridal experience at this place was so warm, positive, fun and personal. We had a lovely time!
Kate does her homework before your appointment, and had handpicked items from her collection based on a form I’d filled out with general descriptions of what I like, and my size/shape. They were hanging ready for me to try on when we got there, so no risk of falling in love with something drastically too small!
I wasn’t expecting to find my dress so early, I just wanted to get a feel for different shapes, and what might suit me, but when I put it on an ‘80s does 20s’ embellished dress - it just felt right, despite not being something I would have ever picked off the rail myself. Really, it felt more like the dress chose me, than the other way round! That’s how magical this little shop feels.
We went to a modern bridal shop appointment later that day, which wasn’t terrible, but there really was no comparison with how the whole experience felt - this place is special! With homemade hair accessories, a draped veil made by my auntie, and reproduction Edwardian boots - my art deco meets art Nouveau meets woodland nymph dream look was complete. Wish I could add photos but they aren’t uploading!
