On International Women’s Day, we honour the voices, knowledge and strength of women across generations.

Lidja Binjidbira meaning “listen to women” in the Larrakia language, is a powerful painting by Larrakia artist Rebekah Nyalkba. Rooted in her connection to the Larrakia Nation and her upbringing in the Northern Territory, the work reflects the deep cultural importance of listening to the stories, teachings, and wisdom carried by Aboriginal women.

Rebekah Nyalkba celebrates women as storytellers, nurturers and leaders, reminding us that their voices have always shaped culture, community and the future.

Today and every day, we honour the power of women’s voices and the responsibility to truly listen with deep respect.

🌿 Gloria Petyarre (c.1942–2021) is widely regarded as one of the most significant Aboriginal artists of her generation. In 1999 she was awarded the prestigious Wynne Prize, bringing international recognition to her distinctive and powerful style.

Layers of movement and colour unfold within Gloria Petyarre’s remarkable painting Bush Medicine Dreaming. The work reflects the artist’s deep connection to Country and the cultural knowledge carried through generations of Anmatyerre women from the Utopia region in Central Australia.

This painting was previously exhibited in our summer exhibition last year. We are pleased to present it once again as part of our Spring Exhibition (19 March – 2 April), offering collectors and visitors the opportunity to experience this important work in person.

Join us for the private view on Thursday 19 March.

Seven Sisters Dreaming by Gabriella Possum Nungurrayi, beautifully at home in this complimentary living space ✨

This powerful work shares the Seven Sisters (Pleiades) story passed down through Gabriella’s family. At Twenty Mile near Napperby Creek, the sisters flee Wati-Nyiru, rising into the sky to become the Pleiades, while he transforms into Orion - forever in pursuit. The concentric circles represent the Sisters with the lone star Orion shining against the Milky Way.

Celebrating the celestial Dreaming and powerful enduring stories of Country and culture ✨
