We’re looking for a Sales & Events Assistant to join the Lost in the Reads team!
What we’re looking for 👇
We’re looking for someone naturally kind, friendly and approachable, who genuinely enjoys talking to people and making customers feel welcome.
This is a customer-facing sales role, so you’ll need to be confident starting conversations, finding out what someone is looking for and helping them choose the right book, gift, drink or little extra.
You should have:
• Previous sales or retail experience — essential
• Some barista experience and confidence making coffee
• Strong customer service skills
• Confidence speaking to customers and starting conversations
• The ability to recommend products and upsell naturally, without being pushy
• A warm, friendly and approachable personality
• Good attention to detail and pride in keeping the shop clean, organised and looking lovely
• The ability to follow processes and checklists independently
• Confidence working independently and spotting what needs doing
• The ability to take feedback positively and learn
You don’t need to know everything about books — we can teach you our systems, stock and processes. What’s really important is that you enjoy talking to people, are genuinely helpful and feel comfortable chatting to customers.
This isn’t a role where you’ll spend the day behind the till. You’ll be out on the shop floor recommending books, making drinks, creating a welcoming atmosphere and helping us give every customer a lovely experience. ❤️
HOURS
Approximately 1.5 days per week. We need someone who can reliably commit to their agreed regular working days.
