Seeing advents being it up for sale in increasing numbers.

My annual post about remembering your claims windows. Every year there’s problems with advents not being delivered, not as described etc. buying before the end of May/June pushes you outside of your claims windows generally.

Tips:
Buy no more than 6 months from the END of Dec
Use a credit card, or PayPal. You can claim on debit but it’s not as straightforward.
Check claims windows.

You are customers, not interest free loans.

**CHARITY COLOURWAY**
So. Here's the thing. At least once in each of our lives, all of us will be touched by the utter bastard that is cancer. Whether that be directly experiencing it or having a loved one fight this terrible disease.

I found out recently that my wonderful friend Mandie has been diagnosed with stage 4 bile duct/liver cancer. We first met when she opened her home to myself and two other indie dyers, putting us up for the weekend of a yarn show near where she lives. Yarn and knitting is how we met.

Mandie contacted me a couple of days ago to request a 'F**K CANCER' colourway to make a beanie and I was/am honoured. I had been pondering a charity colourway to raise money for a cancer charity, so I've decided to combine the two. Of course Mandie designed the colourway: she went for the ribbon colours of liver/bile duct cancer and thyroid cancer, with a touch of added golden yellow.

This colourway is called F**K CANCER. You may be offended by the name, and that's ok. I didn't choose it but I absolutely approve, because that's the bottom line isn’t it? F**K. CANCER.

This colourway will be available until the end of April, and £5 from the sale of each skein will go to Cancer Research UK, as selected by Mandie.

The final word goes to my friend: "Research and awareness my have uncovered my cancers quicker but now I am stage 4 and incurable. Also using AI in detection is blowing my my mind in a good way."

*both sold now, thank you!* Bit of a blast from the past..and still 4 mini skein beaver balls with stitch markers in it 😅 feels like the end of an era!

For the newer people among my followers I used to do absolutely chaotic live lucky dips for stitch markers, mini skeins and patterns with prizes. It was absolute carnage but brilliant fun and I worked with loads of great dyers and other small businesses to fill them up 😅 I haven’t done a draw for a long time now, so I’ve decided to part with my larger beaver and sticker beaver.

If anyone is interested in buying them, let me know! I’ve got some of the balls and cards that go with them. They have keys and they’re both token operated so you can charge what you like for them. They’re great for yarn shows/ shops and I had a blast with mine.

Happy New Year everyone! Unfortunately for you, I will not be participating in ‘New Year, New Me!’ So you’re stuck with this nonsense again 😅

If you’ve placed an order over the festive period, I’ll do a bit of laser cutting tomorrow and they’ll start going out now.

And if you’ve placed haven’t received an advent, please put in claims for them. I won’t stop wanging on about advents and preorders in 2026 either, remember those claim windows (after July is your best protection as a consumer) ♥️

Right I’ve given in and Christmas films have started. What’s your go to Xmas films? I need to add some new ones to my list

First up: Deck the Halls

No I don’t know why either but I enjoy this film far too much 😂

Others on the list: Elf, Uncle Buck, Home Alone(s) (2 is the best one and I will fight you all), Matilda, Santa Claus the Movie, The Santa Clause is off the list but Bernard will always be my favourite elf 💚

It’s that time of year, and again like clockwork here we are.

I’m sharing this from my Instagram stories after someone has shared an issue with advents (it’s also been reported by someone else in groups).

Please protect your money. Every penny you spend with a small business is so valuable, hell for me it’s allowed me to keep my home this year on my own, but that doesn’t mean you have to erode your consumer rights to support me and other small businesses.

If you can afford to lose it, knock yourself out, but every year I see people who have scrimped and saved to have something nice for Christmas for themselves, and then it not be delivered or as described. Even more so, I see those same people (and dyers) doing the same thing again and again.

This doesn’t mean every dyer who does a preorder is a problem. Of course they’re not. But remember you likely have only 6 months to claim. Nobody should be upset at their customers protecting themselves, if they are that should raise questions.

I haven’t posted in a little while, but if you’re thinking of ordering Christmas presents from small businesses (not just me) I’d really recommend ordering soon!

The Final Cut off days for Royal Mail are in about 10 days but even tracked services are very slow in places. If I post orders it’s now taking 48 just to validate the proof of postage in the system, and arrival times are a bit all over the place. 🧑‍🎄
