APRICOT & CLEMENTINE - APPEAL 💚

ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY BY YOUR RESPONSE THANK YOU SO MUCH. THE EXTRA FUNDS WILL COVER ANY VETERINARY COSTS, STRAW BEDDING AND HEAT SOURCE COSTS FOR THIS PRECIOUS DUO 🦌🦌🧡🧡

A week ago our lives got busier, more stressful and a lot sweeter.....

These are the first ever fawns to come to us and normally best advice is to leave fawns alone as mum only attends sporadically, relying on her little ones to stay still and quiet between her visits to avoid predation.

With crucial information from their camera setup Mark and Jacky were able to explain that these two were born last Sunday night / Monday morning, one in each of two adjacent woodland gardens. Their beautiful Mum, Rowan, dutifully attended them Monday and Tuesday, and again Wednesday morning but wasn't seen after that.

Absolute tragedy had struck, and poor Rowan had been killed on a nearby road by a vehicle. Two delicate little lives now in jeopardy.

We first heard from Charlotte at Conanvet because one fawn had been handed in by the neighbours, and we quickly learned of his sibling because Mark rang for advice having found the second one, a tiny female. I arranged to meet Mark and Jacky in Tain, late last Friday evening to accept both fawns and continue their trip here, arriving back at 9pm to start trying to stabilise them.

Dehydrated and hungry they'd missed feeds for two and a half of the five short days they'd been alive. We were hugely grateful for the 10kg bag of Lamlac donated by the vets, which got us off to a good start for feeding but we were understandably cautious about their chances. Add to the situation that we haven't reared fawns before so you can imagine this wasn't a stress free scenario especially with a 3am feeding alarm in the schedule. Clementine, the female was significantly smaller, weaker, and very dehydrated.

Round the clock care for a week has seen these beaitiful, long-leggedy, sweet little souls build strength and energy and now they're ready to venture outside but...

We urgently need to create a Fawn Paddock for them to start exploring the big wide world outside - can you please help us give APRICOT & CLEMENTINE the safe outdoor adventures they need? 💚
