SALT STATIC HQ LAUNCH DAY!

Salt Static is getting a home.
Come down for the launch of our new little HQ... part shop, part 90s hangout, part music space and somewhere to waste a few hours.

Expect Salt Static clothing, retro games, VHS, CDs, old-school TV, 0% beers, sofas, good music, Street food and plenty of 90s nostalgia.

We’ll also have the bar/fridge stocked with Firebrand’s Shorebreak and Little Wave alcohol free beers, alongside soft drinks.

Salt Static is very deliberately a space where you can come out, socialise and have a beer without alcohol needing to be the centre of everything.

There’ll be our HiFi playing 90s CDs all evening, Master system games to play, stuff to browse and space to hang out.

No pressure to buy anything... come in, have a look around, play some Sega, grab a drink and see what we’ve been building.
This is only the beginning. The plan is for Salt Static HQ to host small acoustic sessions, socials, retro gaming, film nights, pop-ups and other bits as we figure out exactly what this strange little place wants to become.

90s clothes. Surf culture. Music. Games. Good people. Zero pressure.

Come and help us open the doors.

What an amazing first few weeks. A huge thank you to everyone who has shown their support for The Lost Penguin Wax Shack.

We’ve met so many brilliant people, had countless great conversations, and sent loads of great records off to new homes — across pretty much every genre imaginable.

When you set something new up and put it out into the world, you never really know how people are going to respond.

Well… I think we know now.

The people of Bude — and everyone visiting Bude who has found their way through our door and up the spiral stairs — have been absolutely amazing. The support, encouragement and enthusiasm for the shop has meant a huge amount to us.

We’d also like to say a massive thank you to the local businesses who have popped in, messaged us, shared what we’re doing or simply offered words of support. We know how busy this time of year is, so it genuinely means even more. It’s really helped us feel settled and welcomed.

There’s such a brilliant community of independent businesses, creatives and musicians here, and we’re really excited to be a small part of it.

The Lost Penguin is very happy to have found its home in Bude.

We’re new here, but we’re already meeting so many amazing people. Among them is local business owner Chris at House of Chaplin, which has always been a staple for great food and coffee whenever I’m in town with my family.

This is his new podcast, and I’m here for it.

In episode two, Chris talks about Led Zeppelin, his understanding of one of their songs as a personal rite of passage, and his research into the inspiration behind it.

Music has the power to change us, ground us, and help guide us. Once a creator puts their work out into the world, it can take on a meaning of its own and affect those who hear it in ways they never intended or expected. That’s the power of music.

This podcast looks like it’s going to explore some profound and fascinating ideas, and I can’t wait to see where it goes. It’s always a brave thing to put yourself out into the world, so please do give it a listen.
