17thC carved oak press cupboard taking pride of place amongst the country furniture on the pitch of here at Earsham Hall Antiques

Press cupboards were an important feature of prosperous rural households. Used for storing linen, tableware and other household possessions, they stood in the principal room of the house, where their elaborate carving also served as a display of the owner’s wealth and status

This piece has a wonderfully vernacular character, with its richly decorated exterior contrasting with a plain, utilitarian interior - a lovely example of everyday function and local decorative craftsmanship

Probably East Anglian in origin, with later alterations and old repairs which are all part of its 400 year story

This striking Whitbread & Company cast-iron pub sign dates to around 1970. Double-sided, it features the brewer’s iconic hart emblem and a surround of decorative hops and foliage. The central crest bears the historic “Whitbread & Company 1742” inscription, the year the London brewery was founded

A substantial decorative piece with real presence whether displayed as part of a collection of original vintage pub memorabilia and breweriana or as an interior design statement piece

Our entrance display from Midcentury furniture, lamps & ceramics. Norwich UK brings together wonderful examples of 1950s, 60s and 70s design, full of colour, character and texture

Taking centre stage is a 1950s Ercol sideboard accompanied by an Ercol Cow Horn chair, a striking Swedish Rya rug and a fabulous Richard Essig-designed lamp with a handmade shade in vintage Saini Salonen fabric

For lovers of West German pottery, there’s a colourful collection of 1960’s and 70’s ceramics by Jasba, Scheurich, Ruscha and Carstens Atelier, alongside a lovely Swedish dish

A wonderfully evocative piece of Victorian horse racing history

This striking 19th-century reverse glass still in its original ebonised and gilt frame captures Pyrrhus the First and Sir Tatton Sykes battling it out for the Epsom Derby Stakes in 1846

The whole piece has a slightly naïve, almost graphic quality with bold silhouette like horses and jockeys, hand painted detail and period inscription

Lots of new pieces have been arriving at Earsham Hall Antiques over the past few days, including this rather handsome 19th-century pine chest of drawers

Continental European, probably North German or Scandinavian, it’s constructed in pine with three big drawers and some lovely decorative detailing. It would originally have been painted, but was stripped at some point in its life, and now has later handles too
