One of my favourite things about going away is soaking in all the inspiration that surrounds me, wherever I am.

Whether it's the colours of the sea, a pretty doorway, a flower growing by the roadside or a beautiful sunset, I'm always spotting ideas that make me think, "Ooh... that would make something lovely!"

This handmade bag was inspired by the beautiful Mediterranean blues, from the sea right through to the evening sky.

I never seem to travel without my crochet hook either. It somehow always finds its way into my suitcase! You never know when inspiration might strike.

Wherever I go, I always seem to bring a little piece of that place back to my Somerset studio...just in a slightly different form.😊

Apparently birthday celebrations don’t stop Granny going to market! 😂🎂🧶

We’re right in the middle of Mr K’s birthday celebrations, but I’m squeezing in one last market before we head off on our travels again!

I’m at Bleadon Village Market today, 9.30am–12pm, surrounded as always by some brilliant local makers and lots of lovely friendly faces. Do pop in and say hello if you’re nearby. 💕

Then it’s back to the birthday celebrations and, very soon, packing for our travels… when the important negotiations begin over exactly how much yarn Mr K will allow into the gaps in his precision-packed car. 😂🧶🚗

Don’t worry, I’ll be keeping in touch with projects, makes and a few tips from the road!

I thought it was time for a reintroduction for all my new followers!👋🏻

I'm Sharon, otherwise known as the Granny behind gifts by Granny!

I've been crafting for as long as I can remember. My great-grandmother taught me when I was just seven, and these days you'll usually find me with yarn somewhere nearby...whether that's at home, in the caravan, on holiday or even getting my hair done!

I'm also Granny to twelve wonderful grandchildren, which probably explains why I love creating thoughtful, practical gifts that become part of everyday life, rather than being tucked away in a cupboard!

You'll find beautiful handmade storage, thoughtful gifts for growing families, handmade homes for favourite plants and plenty of behind-the-scenes glimpses of life as the Granny behind the brand.

When I'm not making, you'll usually find me tending to my plants, exploring somewhere new with my husband Paul or dreaming up my next project.

Another market morning for Granny! 🧶🛍️

Today I’m heading somewhere new to me, the Pop Up Market at Brean Village Hall, from 10am–3pm.

And there’s a brand-new member of the Doorstop Gang coming along for his very first market outing…

🐑 Cedric the Suffolk Sheep is making his debut!

But NO photos yet. You’ll have to come and find me if you want to meet him. 😉 I’ll have lots of my other handmade goodies with me too.

Good morning Burnham! ☀️

It’s been a little while since I’ve been at the Burnham-on-Sea Makers & Craft Fair, so I’m really looking forward to catching up with lots of familiar faces today.

You’ll find me at the Methodist Church from 9am until 2pm, alongside a fantastic group of talented local makers.

I’ve been busy creating plenty of new pieces over the past few weeks… including this little caravan doorstop, ⬇️ made using a collection of recycled and reclaimed materials that I’ve gathered from local charity shops. I had such fun bringing it to life and can’t wait to see what you think!

Well...Granny is hitting the road! 🚗🧶

If you're nearby this August, I'd absolutely love to see you.

There's nothing better than chatting to people, helping them find the perfect handmade gift (or treating themselves!), and seeing my handmade pieces find their new homes.

A change of pace… 🌿🧶

No markets this weekend. No studio. No deadlines.

Just a few peaceful days in Exmoor with Mr K, recharging the batteries… and yes, the knitting needles have made the trip too. 😉

This little jacket has already been “pre-ordered” by one of my grandchildren’s mums, so there was no chance of leaving it behind!

I don’t seem to sit still for very long, but swapping the studio for birdsong, a mill stream, fresh air and a caravan view is doing us both the world of good.

A few days to slow down… then it’ll be back to the hooks, the yarn and lots of new ideas.

🌞 A new adventure for Granny tomorrow! 🧶

Tomorrow you’ll find me somewhere completely new…

I’m really looking forward to having a stall at the Walton-in-Gordano Centenary Fete. It’s my first time at this event and, from everything I’ve heard, it’s going to be a wonderful day out for all the family.

Mr K (I wonder what colour hat he will choose to wear 🤔🤠) and I will be setting up in the craft marquee alongside lots of other talented local makers, and with sunshine on the forecast it promises to be a fantastic celebration of the village’s 100th birthday. 🎉

I’ve been busy this week making sure I’m well stocked, including three new Hamishes! 🐮 One has already settled into each of my two shops, so Hamish No.19 will be joining me tomorrow… along with Mabel, of course! 🐔

If you’re planning a visit, do come and say hello. Have a wander around the craft marquee, enjoy everything the fete has to offer, and if you spot Granny, stop for a chat. I’d love to show you my latest handmade creations and hear what you think.
